1. Great basses imo, proper tool for the job, if the ceramic pickup and preamp on this wont cut it in a live mix nothing will! Glwts
2. I've no idea why I've never owned a G&L?
3. I hope so, maybe he has just stopped selling them rather than Clover stopping making them.
4. I fancied trying an Apieron 5 or however its spelt
5. Just doing my bi monthly scan of basses for sale and one of the brands I click on, clover, has gone?
6.
Yeah,IMO there's no "right bass". I gig with several different basses and they are all fun to play and I hope to have them for a long time. Now there are things, like the right technique, skills, ability (chops) and dexterity that I'm continually trying to get right. I know some of you have had success with off brand and less expensive basses, That has not been the case for me. Blue
now I have gas for an ASAT
7. My double bass has deprived a couple of nice solid topped guitars from being built
8. I was wondering when the British motorcycle industry would come up I see them as two bits of wood made by a machine screwed together,I don't see how there can be much difference from one to the next if you know how to set it up? Same goes for the comments regarding lime light etc, not exactly hand made like a Fodera are they. Still if I see a nice jazz five I might grab it as I have an F hole in my collection right now
9. Yep I've got get lucky in B on the list Doddy!
10.
And even then, they might have meant C minor.

No, you'd be told if it's in the minor. Major is assumed.
That's my take on it bassace although I guess it can't hurt to be specific either.
11.
Also annoying: 'It's in A.' 'No, it's in A minor.'
That's the sort of thing I'm on about, saying it's in C would have been better!
12. Oooh I appear to have hit a nerve!
13. Anyone else get set lists for gigs or dep gigs etc with the keys written next to each song but they have failed to understand the concept of musical keys and actually just given you the note that is either the root of the opening chord or the most common note in the song?!
14. Mine has been great, brilliant amps, I must try it with my 2x12 just to see if I've ruined my 12 inch cab or if the head needs checking, possibly new valve time
15.
That's why you can never be dissapointed with a custom build!
Which the fs section is always full of!
16. This is what Jake Newman has been teaching me along with double bass technique, having a teacher really helps imo, doesn't have to be every week, once every few months can be enough to get you pointing the right way then when you get stuck again have another. Doddy taught me to read music which has also helped with learning some theory as most of the books are in fly droppings I'm literally just a tiny bit in front of this topic on the two octave scale (9th 11th and 13th to confuse me) and how the different chord tones fit within the scales thus in turn why certain notes work in a chord progression, your brain is already trying to go there by the sounds of things , like Doddy says though I (we) need to learn note names rather than shapes which I'm guilty of! Good luck and enjoy
17. My thumb naturally goes to 'that spot', well mine would wouldn't it lol but even on my acoustic bass it sounds a bit stingray-esque!
18. I play all sorts of styles from Reggae to country, rock to pop and I could play all of those songs on the Peavey Foundation I bought new in 1993, having a B string is probably the only thing I would really miss if I went back. I've seen everything from folk music to two handed tapping and crazy skills and chops on a Stingray so I can't see me outgrowing them, I might add a five string super Jazz to the collection at some point though
19.
You'd have to ask my guitarist. He plays through a bass combo, and supplied that for sharing. I don't share my gear with strangers these days. Again, probably, but it was addressed to one of the other members of the band. I don't recall us being publicly thanked over the PA at any point, if that's what you're asking. S.P.
As the saying goes, a bit of manners goes a long way.
20.
I have work for charities and have worked with the Guide Dogs. They have a reputation as having far too much money that they don't know what to do with; so that is particular sad to hear that they treat musicians in this way
I suspect they were just a miserable bunch, the organiser was a nice chap but either way I won't be doing any more free gigs.
21. What about the other bass players? Or a general thanks to the band for supplying all this expensive equipment for nothing for all tonights bands to use?
22. Did everyone thank you? The lack of thanks has been instrumental in me never playing another charity gig. And what Spacey said but lets not go there
23. Thats the theory but I dont find that the 9.2 has any more depth than my 6.0 or even the 3.0 regardless of which cab I use, without having them together with the same cab its hard to say if it adds much imo, the preamps are all quite different in my three heads though and they never did a 3.2 so I'd like to compare them, the 3.0 FET only, 6.0 valve only, shuttlemax is twin channel with one of each but it has more knobs to fiddle with, in fact I've never seen so many knobs on an amp as my shuttlemax
