1.
Office parties, the worst kind of drunks that there are, two sweet sherries and they think they`re George Best and Oliver Reed rolled into one.
This time they were all women, well I use the term women VERY loosely.
 2.
I had to extract a punter from behind the kit on NYE last year, he couldn't see what the problem was. Lucky for him it was me that caught him and not the drummer....
Drum kits are magnets for idiots! You can read whatever you like into that
 3.
The MU standard contract contains a clause plainly stating that the kit is not for the use of the client, but I doubt any of those bozos would have had sight of your booking agreement!
Haha I'm not a member, it was a reference to the 'playing for nowt' thread, we do have insurance but I doubt they'd be keen to pay for damage to our kit as it annoyingly is there to protect the punters from us, how ironic!
 4. I haven't got any 'budget' basses since selling all my 4 stringers, the US Jazz V is my cheapest one now, it's collecting some mojo along the way but I'd rather it be my damage than from the punters!
 5.
Most of my gigs are Hampshire / Berkshire / Surrey. I guess average fee is £250. A few places hit £300 and one is £350 but there's a couple of small places who don't go over £150. We play the little ones because we know the managers and they are usually a nice crowd. Oh, and we play one place for free in exchange for free rehearsal time. Every ten rehearsals = one free gig
Same kind of thing here, we actually got £400 last week, in a pub! Second time there for us and the till was bursting at the seams both times, we heard the door staff were turning people away during the second set because the place was too full, if only all our gigs went so well I have a trio that does the cheap gigs, still ends up £50 each and we are not really playing anything suitable to go for the party/function scene but the little venues have a regular crowd of music fans that appreciate actual live music, had some good nights in those little quirky pubs.
 6.
Ahh. Best ignore my previous post.
I'm sure they've earnt a good night out tbf, could have been a costly one for us if the headstock had been snapped off the Gold Top he's been thinking of retiring it to home use with his vintage strats for a while which he's just substituted with the 87 (?) strat in the picture, I wouldn't be surprised if santa brings him a later model LP now he has an excuse
 7.
This is why, miserable gits that we are, everything gets packed away as soon as the last chord's over.
There's often no way of getting the upright bass to safety and it has to go in the van last to avoid it being turned into kindling!
 8. They gave up his guitar easily, but stayed on the stage for a while. I normally put my basses in cases straight away but I've only had this sort of thing when the stage area is not a raised stage, we often get idiots shouting into the mics so I muted the whole pa before we got off.
 9. Last nights gig, works christmas party affair, 150+ people with a free bar, live band and disco, you know the score. We play our set, just a straight through 1 1/4 hour set of favourites, went down well, pocket full of money each begrudgingly taken purely to protect the MU members future earnings Here's the 'stage' area before the gig..... Gig done, dancing crowd happy, DJs take over, All is well so we retreat outside for some fresh air until someone comes out for a smoke and informs us that the audience are on the stage playing our guitars. Great! Luckily for me they didn't fancy the delicate double bass and went for the guitarist's genuine 70s Gibson Les Paul Gold Top!!!!! I took this snap after removing my Jazz V and Stingray 5, double bass went in the cleaners cupboard just after. 10. Anything by Florence and The Machine, awful.
 11. Obviously there are certain venues that we know are likely to be rough and you have to decide how to deal with those but I've had more trouble with drunken or coked up idiots at fancy weddings than I have had problems with the average tickled trout punter.
 12. I'll do a little update over the weekend
 13. What about when miming for a music video? I managed a few head nods last time if I remember, tbh I was thinking about what I was having from the Chinese for tea after during the white back drop filming. http://youtu.be/rONtsRRlq9U
 14. I love looking at bows, I've no idea what it is but it's nice
 15.
. . . . no, really, I did!
That for me would be going for the full flea walking on his hands routine, that foot tap makes you a failed guitarist you know? Disgraceful foot thrusting, get out!
 16.
How old are you ? That really needs to be taken into account, especially if you have relatives coming along. They may never talk to you again 😊.
Are you thinking to twerk or not to twerk?
 17. I just stand behind a pillar, most of the venues we play have one too
 18. As a self diagnosed pervert I love a pop song accompanied by moving images of ladies in their undercrackers, there's a decent tune tucked away sometimes too.
 19.
Lots of punk and hardcore bands in the 90s onwards use/used a Stingray. One of the reasons I got into them as a 12/13 year old. Good Riddance - mid 90s. Mad Caddies Lagwagon Screw 32 Descenedents The biggest influence for me was just the entire look...I loved the oval plate. As soon as I heard one, I was like 'that is IT!'.
I need some release dates of singles that aren't bumped by better known tracks, what you got?
 20.
1988 - Kim Clarke - Defunkt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFCdYYKQObA
It's in!
 21.
Ditch Rebel Yell in 1983 for Michael Jackson - Billy Jean (Louis Johnson)
Done
 22. I'll update the list later, feel free to challenge and upstage a year and I'll swap it out especially if we can have different artists for each year. Last night I started thinking about mcfly and the vamps for modern ones too.
 23. Cool, keep them coming and I'll fill it the gaps
