1.
Ahh. Best ignore my previous post.
I'm sure they've earnt a good night out tbf, could have been a costly one for us if the headstock had been snapped off the Gold Top he's been thinking of retiring it to home use with his vintage strats for a while which he's just substituted with the 87 (?) strat in the picture, I wouldn't be surprised if santa brings him a later model LP now he has an excuse
2.
This is why, miserable gits that we are, everything gets packed away as soon as the last chord's over.
There's often no way of getting the upright bass to safety and it has to go in the van last to avoid it being turned into kindling!
3. They gave up his guitar easily, but stayed on the stage for a while. I normally put my basses in cases straight away but I've only had this sort of thing when the stage area is not a raised stage, we often get idiots shouting into the mics so I muted the whole pa before we got off.
4. Last nights gig, works christmas party affair, 150+ people with a free bar, live band and disco, you know the score. We play our set, just a straight through 1 1/4 hour set of favourites, went down well, pocket full of money each begrudgingly taken purely to protect the MU members future earnings Here's the 'stage' area before the gig..... Great! Luckily for me they didn't fancy the delicate double bass and went for the guitarist's genuine 70s Gibson Les Paul Gold Top!!!!! I took this snap after removing my Jazz V and Stingray 5, double bass went in the cleaners cupboard just after. 5. Anything by Florence and The Machine, awful.
6. Obviously there are certain venues that we know are likely to be rough and you have to decide how to deal with those but I've had more trouble with drunken or coked up idiots at fancy weddings than I have had problems with the average tickled trout punter.
7. I'll do a little update over the weekend
8. What about when miming for a music video? I managed a few head nods last time if I remember, tbh I was thinking about what I was having from the Chinese for tea after during the white back drop filming. http://youtu.be/rONtsRRlq9U
9. I love looking at bows, I've no idea what it is but it's nice
10.
. . . . no, really, I did!
That for me would be going for the full flea walking on his hands routine, that foot tap makes you a failed guitarist you know? Disgraceful foot thrusting, get out!
11.
How old are you ? That really needs to be taken into account, especially if you have relatives coming along. They may never talk to you again 😊.
Are you thinking to twerk or not to twerk?
12. I just stand behind a pillar, most of the venues we play have one too
13. As a self diagnosed pervert I love a pop song accompanied by moving images of ladies in their undercrackers, there's a decent tune tucked away sometimes too.
14.
Lots of punk and hardcore bands in the 90s onwards use/used a Stingray. One of the reasons I got into them as a 12/13 year old. Good Riddance - mid 90s. Mad Caddies Lagwagon Screw 32 Descenedents The biggest influence for me was just the entire look...I loved the oval plate. As soon as I heard one, I was like 'that is IT!'.
I need some release dates of singles that aren't bumped by better known tracks, what you got?
15.
1988 - Kim Clarke - Defunkt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFCdYYKQObA
It's in!
16.
Ditch Rebel Yell in 1983 for Michael Jackson - Billy Jean (Louis Johnson)
Done
17. I'll update the list later, feel free to challenge and upstage a year and I'll swap it out especially if we can have different artists for each year. Last night I started thinking about mcfly and the vamps for modern ones too.
18. Cool, keep them coming and I'll fill it the gaps
19. When you think about it they came out of the blocks right into the mainstream from day one and have been in the lime light ever since which is some going to get a product out there so quickly. John Deacon was right in there with his and I'm sure we could link the earliest users right upto players like Lauren Taniel on tour with Beyonce right now without much effort! Let's have a go 1976-2016, I'll start us off, fill in the gaps! Anyone got a hit single for 76 I can only think of the Queen album that features some Ray action? I'm going from memory, videos and hearsay, I'll bump tracks off for better suggestions and or evidence 1976 Queen day at the races album. 1977 Queen good old fashioned lover boy. 1978 Chic Le freak 1979 Chic I want your love 1980 Queen another one bites the dust 1981 1982 Billy Idol white wedding 1983 M Jackson Billy Jean (L Johnson) 1984 Sade smooth operator 1985 The cult she sells sanctuary 1986 Peter Gabriel sledge hammer (Tony Levin) 1987 Peter Gabriel big time (Tony Levin) 1988 Defunkt Smooth Love (Kim Clark) 1989 1990 1991 Red Hot Chili Peppers give it away 1992 Rage Against The Machine killing in the name of 1993 Rage Against The Machine bombtrack 1994 1995 1996 1997 Blur song 2 1998 1999 Blur coffee and TV 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 McFly Obviously 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 Take That up all night (Lee Pomeroy) 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 The Vamps Cecillia 2015 2016 Beyonce Lemonade tour (Lauren 'LT' Taniel) Come on guys help me out
20. I think Jake Newman is using a Yita carbon as his spare after he liked mine, £120 bow entertaining the audiences of London's West End shows
21. Then you still have to reach the bow over for bass and cello but not for violin as the bow is reversed but the left hand isn't. I suspect the earliest version of the violin family was made roughly how it is now and with the strings in the order they are as that was what worked best, after that they just built bigger versions of the violin.
22. I don't mind the normal ones but them grabby rings will ruin a jack socket in no time, I haven't seen them for a while, do they still do them?
23.
With small spaces do UK pub owners realize how rough that is for bands, or do the leave tables and bar stools in the way making it even harder for bands? Blue
I find a mixture, in some places the landlord can't be found and a handful of young bar staff are left in charge with no idea a band were even booked!, others will have cleared a space and stopped daytime drinkers taking over the area where the band goes, plenty of power sockets and a round of drinks or two, then there's everything in between
