4. It's been a while but a new track from one of my ongoing originals projects. Plain Sight was (I think) recorded with Wal PB1680 - as I generally record my tracks at home and DropBox them I sometimes lose track, but the Wal is normally the go to bass for this project. That said the other track there from Soundcloud (Kickin Up Dust) is mostly G&L US L2500 fretless with PB1680 in the sort of solo section.
 5.
Issues with the first solution is that I cant find anything designed for this and would have to attach a strap mount transmitter to my board; Any thoughts?
Smoothhound system? The transmitter is probably shallower than a Boss pedal when plugged in. British made. Inexpensive. Works really well
 6. Great day as ever - if ultimately a little expensive (ahem) Sadly PB1680 never made it out of the car, but a few other bits did Thanks all, and hood to catch up. Next year I really shall get back to the jam room!!
 7.
Far Canal, that MoPho is pretty 80s-tastic ... an MTV 12" mix in a box.
It's great. I only really use one patch for the prog gig, but there's some corkers on there that I have used with a keyboard on disco/funk deps in the past
 8.
A couple of things... Bass Guitar Magazine will be giving me some magazines to give away. So look out for those too. And... does anybody have a Tonehammer 500 they can bring? I want to check it out (as I'm using one for NAMM and I've never played with one before) - S
Can't help with a 500 but I shall have a 350 in the car if that's any help I can also chuck the McMillen 12Step & DSI MoPho in the car if anyone wants a look at those. Hopefully the MoPho (never a more apt name when I came to use it last gig) will work. Wouldn't fire up at the gig but did the next day at home. Gig was outside and I think it may just have been flaky power, but was annoying all the same on the night. Could add the laptop to show the 12Step running softsynths in poly, but that's a bit more involved and I could really do with upgrading the laptop as it struggles a bit sometimes hence my never getting round to using that live to date
 9.
Great idea! Does anyone have any direct links to them, Rob in particular?
Email Status or ring. I believe Rob often responds direct and if not the person who answers is v helpful (can't remember her name but helped with sorting out the right pasrt for the S1)

 11. Storming night last Saturday with a crowd well up for it and not the swivel eyed loons (my new favourite description of certain punters) of the week before. All dancing, singing and vocally appreciative from the get go. Wifey was reporting back nice overheard compliments in the break and at the end. Basically the sort of gig you need after one where the loons were pissed when you arrived to set up, swaying gently in the breeze and you wonder what's the point - that earlier gig being one where the vocalist reported going to the loo in the break and finding one of said SEL's at the urinal with his mobile propped on a pipe in front of him having a blazing row with his girlfriend on facetime Anyway. Saturday. One guitarist down for a second gig but got through no problems having worked as a three piece for years before so just adjusted things a bit. A few fluffs but noone noticed. Boiling hot night & I forgot my stage towel so was stood in a small puddle by the end of the night. Used the Super12 and TH350 plus the Status S1 I had off Barney42 a while back while the L2500 was repaired but am still loving the sound and playability of so G&L languishes in its case. All in all most enjoyable and what gigging's about. Can't wait for the next one
 12. Yeah...it was pretty good https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=749176871914801&set=a.106770279488800.17191.100004674849155&type=3&theater
 13.
Laughage !!
I use the Neo version of this on all my basses, except the Status S1, with the leather strap between the strap buttons to loop the right shoulder strap round. With the status I use a MONO Betty with as it's a much lighter bass. The GruvGear Duo is great and much better than the Slider strap I used for a while
 14.
There's a guy in the second black and white picture sitting on the edge of the stage with a Wasp synthesiser. Sod the Shergolds bring back the EDP Wasp!
Indeed there is. The trouble we used to have with that bloody thing
 15. Ah look back in 83 (is what it says & is probably about right Refinished silverburst Marathon with an 8 string neck - it was my first proper bass & originally 4 string & black - and black Marathon fretless. Guess which is the only bass I still own and if it was 83 I had only just bought it We all had them in another band
 16. That'll be a no then...well it was a bloody good weekend with mates & some great music both new & old. Sound was generally great and all I had to do was stagger back to the room at the end of each session - well Friday & Saturday as I decided going teetotal for Sunday as I was driving home today would probably bee a good idea. Absolute highlight for me was Steve Hackett last night with Nick Beggs on bass. So to bed & work tomorrow...bugger!
 17. It's the parents diamond wedding anniversary that weekend so I shall have to pass again. There'll be other years
 18. Anyone else going to this, playing or watching? I've been for the last two years and wasn't sure if I'd be able to go this year because of work, but I've pretty much got everything I need to to done (famous last words!) and said to my boss last Wednesday I'm going to book the Friday & Monday as holiday unless you have any objections (no says he) to block the days, and we'll play it by ear if there's going to be a problem. I'd been telling wifey I couldn't guarantee we could go this year, but today we had a final 'sod it' moment and booked for the weekend - 27-30 Jan - so off to Minehead Butlins we shall go with the vocalist & one guitarist from one of my bands for a third year of vast quantities of music and gin In particular I'm looking forward to (in no particular order other than the poster) Steve Hackett, Ian Paice/Purpendicular, Gun, Dare, Pretty Things, BJH & Bernie Marsden, but we've seen some great new bands as well in the past. I just hope there's not too many clashes of bands I want to see between venues!! SO, pray for my liver and I might see you there
 19.
The strings are about an inch away from the fretboard. The wood has been carved with various designs, I am not sure how to get a pic on here???? I have eternal guitars recommended to me, who are about a mile up the road, it is big effort to get to brighton so may well go with the least line of resistance.
Mike I've used Graham and currently have the L2500 for repair with Dave at Eternal (who's done a load of work on guitars for my son that he's been pleased with), or there's Ian mentioned above by Nik who's even closer. We have a surfeit of options near us at the mo
 20. A looooong time ago I played in a prog instrumental band that rehearsed at least two nights a week in the drummers ground floor flat with the full PA (for the keys I think it must have been) kit and backline. Never did work out how we got away with it
 21. Bass bashes & LBS in the flurry of notes topping & tailing otherwise perhaps it's too close to home but it left me cold when I watched it after someone tagged me...or perhaps I'm just a miserable old fart
 22. Blue Murder / John Sykes with Tony Franklin was a lot of fretless as I recall
 23. Great night, but I ache all over this morning. Nice friendly pub listening to the fairly lad back sound of my originals band and not at all bothered that there was only one cover in the set (and a weird one at that Mary Poppins). That and it was all sounding good from where I was
 24.
I should retract my post. I dropped my 1951 MIJ reissue Fender P Bass face down onto asphalt while standing in front of the case. No damage, a few small scratches. A set up and new strings and all is good. I was lucky. Blue
DOH!
 25.
Word to the wise, your bass should go from your hands to the case. No in-between stops. Blue
I had to put it down to get the case. In the meantime I picked up a bombproof Status S1 with a graphite through neck to tide me over. It's beaten up and I don't need to worry abut it, but it sounds great and plays really easily (even if Iit makes me go for spending on more expensive basses )
Are they also fixing this crack in the side of the body?
Should be, yes. It's a complete refinish taking the top back & building up from bare wood. I'm pretty sure the crack was in the lacquer not the wood. We shall see...photos to follow
