1. i havnt seen any arse-ness from him. The press seems to hate him because of a couple of offensive things he's said about people like Jessica Simpson.. and letting the N-word slip, but in the same shoes i'm sure i'd be in deeper sh*t by now. From what ive seen he seems to be a genuinely funny and sincere guy.
2. i'll admit it, yeah. got the "where the light is" dvd.... obviously just for the bluesy john mayer trio stuff though.
3. plus a 1. if he started to get really interested in playing, at some point you will both want to play at the same time. this way you never need to squabble over an amp, also as above, a backup is always a good thing.
4. the earlier "perfect 10 mini rig" was 65w and has 2 seperate 16ohm, 65w 10" speaker cabs instead of a single cab in the newer ones. i still have my original one. I used it for my first ever gig with 2 guitarists (both using 30w 1x12 combos) and a drummer and i had to push it in a small pub. the extra power of the newer ones will help alot for a really small gig, but i just doubt it can deliver the goods with 2 guitarists unless its an acoustic orientated band or you always have pa support, however even then you will either need a di pedal or use the headphone jack which cuts power to the speakers.
5.
a second 15" will just destroy walls
that makes me happy. just looking at the 1153 specs, these cabs are just over 20kilos which is pretty impressive for trace stuff, i was expecting something weighing more than the moon like the combo / my old 1524 cab. i'll keep an eye out. cheers for the help.
6. heres the links for those cabs. 7. after a couple of gigs with my trace v-type combo i've decided i could do with another cab to give me a little more clean headroom. It did fine, but at the edge, its gets a bit grindy which i like... but it doesn't suit some of the songs i'm playing. i'm thinking i'd do best with a 2x10 configuration because i don't need masses more volume and it would add some nice top end to my sound. i've got about £300 to spend at a push but would rather spend closer to £200. at a glance i've come up with the likes of a Hartke 210xl, warwick 211 pro, and the ampeg svt-210av. out of those i like the look of the svt best... but i'm worried it wouldn't provide the goods... seems more aimed at the practice amp market. any recommendations / advice? cheers.
8. if the speakers are wired in series then one going would cause both of them to cut out.... but you would probably notice a speaker blowing, also if that happened it would present no load to the amp so could quite possibly make the amp go pop, so doubt its a cab problem.
9. theres some really nice distortion pedals arround or even multi-fx pedals that can emulate a guitar amp / cab.... i think those would be easier, cheaper and better options to be honest.
10. reminds me of the sub i have in my car, has 1000w embossed in big letters on the side, even though its only the actual woofer which has a 1000w max rating and the actual amp is more like 250rms.
11. running 2 preamps in a row is fine, infact an active bass is essentially a bass with a built in preamp, so whenever someone runs an active bass into a bass amp, they're using 2 preamps. The only thing you will have to take into consideration is that the gain on the second preamp will be lower than if you where running a passive bass straight into it because the signal coming from the first preamp will be stronger.
12. should maybe put the tvt9 in with this and sell it as the ultimate tube whores play thing.
13. damn, 4ohm, i got excited there for a second.
14. i just had to go out and drink beer instead of stay in and buy this.....
15. the only reason i can think of that it wouldnt be suitable for gigging is that the metal case doesnt seem as hard wearing as a traditional wood cased amp.... but aslong as you take care of it... i dont see a problem.
16. is that shipped / how much will postage be?
17. what about using an amp model from the bass pos straight into a poweramp? ive heard some convincing tones coming from a setup like that, definitely good enough for a backup / temporary fix.
18. to keep all the preamps and power amp together you will also need a rack case. although depending on your power requirements, i'd be tempted to run the guitar preamp into a bass amp head. Something like an ashdown mag300 or 600 head can be had for less that £200 and had a pretty decent eq section where you can ad some low end to the signal, plus its one less thing to worry about as the preamp and power amp are all in one.
19. if the thunderverb 50 had di (i dont think it does) it would be great for just a monitor and running the signal into foh, or into a more powerful poweramp to drive a larger cab. however for the price of a thunderverb (about £1200) you can get a really nice ad200b or theres even a nice matamp gt200 for sale on here which would do an even better job imo.
20. imo i doubt you'd need the bass preamp, having 2 preamps in a row seems like a bit of a waste, having an eq will do a better job at adding some low end. and you will definitely need a power amp before the cab.
21. also interested, where are you at?
22. i dunno about the 50w version... but 200w or orange goodness is definitely enough for just about any gig, with the right cabs. you would need to use bass cabs as guitar cabs just don't push enough air for bass. I think the 50w version at a push could work for small gigs... but you will have very little clean headroom and it'll start to break up fairly early on you.
23. have to admit, it is tempting... but at the moment i'm using a single 15... so need something to brighten the tone up a bit, although the low end would be great.... pretty sure it wouldn't help my situation much. good luck with the sale though.
24. if this was a 210 or even if it ha d a tweeter i'd be allover it... especially seeing as you're local. but i'm after something brighter... (and smaller) for an extension cab.
25. if i remember rightly, emg's are active pickups with a built in circuit, (boost signal of very few windings) so can be used with stock electronics, again, someone correct me.
