1. The curent reality, IMHO, is that, for instance, the newer Squiers are great in their own right. My VM P TB is a cracker, and all I've personally modded was better tuners, a Fender string tree, and a Fender bridge cover, so that, apart from the 3-bolt and bullet, it's a Telecaster. It's entirely gig-worthy otherwise. So I too am beginning to have some resonance with the idea of buying 'cheap' and modding up a bit. I've got a hankering for a CV 60s P, which I would put VR tuners on, and the metalwork. Instant brand new 60s P! There's simply no downside.
2. +1. Probably not the cheapest solution, but easily the most enjoyable!
3. How's that arm doing? Hope all is proceeding well? Den
4. Hi all, I'm available from now. Have good gear (Fender/Markbass), wheels, passport, and will do most things. Plenty of gigging experience. I DO have specific limitations. I don't slap, at all, and I also don't do anything remotely Jaco-esque. Good'n'solid is what I DO do! Limited BVs... Quite happy to be in a covers band, so long as it's further up the scale, as it were, than just pub gigs. I enjoy pub gigs, I'm just trying to step up a notch!
5. Hey Chris, good to see you back! Not enough of us Precision anoraks here!
6. But in time of need, it'd be there for you, no? Keep it!
7. Budget B, I'm guessing nineties, but the 'relicing' took off the serial. It's a Mexican one, for sure. Kev, nice bass, but if you're a gigging bassist, then you need three, because:- 1) Always take a backup when gigging. 2) If something breaks, you still need to gig with backup. 3) ...is therefore the minimum stable for a gigging bassist. And a great excuse to get more if you've less than 3!
8.
Good score on the strat! And it's always nice when you don't have any GAS, i'm near enough GAS free right now, and it feels good!
Here's the Strat:- A bit over-reliced (not by me!) but well worth £70 plus new pickguard, pickup covers, and knobs.
9. Here they are:- Everything I need. Nothing I don't.
10. Welcome Reece, we'll go a long way here to help, but "bare with me" might just be one step too far! Seriously, ask away, we love it!
11. I never go gigging without a backup, so two basses is a must. If one's duff, I STILL need to go out with a backup, so three is totally justifiable. Beyond that...And I just went down from five to three, so, back to balance!
12.
Ha ha feel free to have old-git .. we can confuse them all
Right, maybe I'll go for yet-older-git! And isn't that animation similar to a Deltic diesel? (Which might just make me SadGit...)
13. Ah well, times is hard, and space is limited, so I've sold off the Kramer and Yamaha, leaving me with just the Fender/Squier basses. Feels good, sort of lighter! Also sold a Squier Strat, but picked up a MIM Fender Strat instead...although I got it for less than I sold the Squier for...lucky!

I'm gonna try and be there one of the days.
15. And it played and sounded very good! Steal for less than 5 squids!
16. Welcome, L1zz1e, can't wait to see your 'new' Precision. I'm a big P-bass fan, as I hope my signature shows!
