1. And another endorsement for these great wiring kits! Thanks, John!
2. One nice set of Vintage Reverse Tuners. These are, if you like, less 'vintage-correct', because they have a perfectly flat cast plate instead of the stamped plate with lugs through it. They are tension-adjustable also. Great condition, with bushes and screws. £25 deliverd, Paypal (gift payment please) of bank transfer acceptable. Cheers, Den
3.
Actually, a new spine would be of interest. I've had two lots of surgery on mine, the second of which involved some removal, and replacement with what can best be described as scaffolding, so I'll take your vertebrae as p/x if thats agreeable??
Been there, done that, got the scaffolding! Four ops. Not nice. Have a bump for quite possibly the nicest pair I've seen for a while!
4.
I don't mind blocks, but I'm with you on the dots and bound.
Yup, like them too! In fact, maybe I could put some Hipshot UltraLite ovals/paddles/lollipops/whatever on one of the Jazzes...Hmmmm...
5.
I always look at the neck, because it looks gorgeous. I also love the silky feel of the back of the neck in my hand.
This! And he day you see John Williams playing a classical piece without looking, I'll be concerned about looking at the fretboard. The guitarist/bassist who can play a set without looking at some point has yet to be born. And if he was born, it would probably be a sign of boredom rather than 'cool as f**k', IMHO...
6. They ruly are wondrous for the money. Having developed an unpleasantly inense thing for Jazzes lately, I was stunned, in Manson's the other day, to see the Squier VM 77 Jazz. It's on the llst...
7. Having had something of a Damascene conversion to the A necked beasties recently, I've decided that henceforth, all my basses, including the black Precision, will eventually have bound-and-blocks 'A' necks. For example the ex-Shockwave bitsa now wears an Allparts black blocks neck. Lee's (Rasta) jazz (swapping for 51RI tomorrow) has white binding/pearl blocks. When I can afford it, I'll get anoher Allparts black blocks jobbie for the P bass, thereby making it like the custom one-off shown on page 54 of The Fender Bass: An Illustrated History., except mine has a b/w/b pickguard. Anyone else as blocks-bonkers as this?
8. Welcome!
9. I've owned one. It was great quality. My current bitsa Jazz has a really nice Squier body. But one thing really, really bugs me. If I wrote that I palyed a Fendre Precision, all would chortle merrily. Or Gisbon. Or Rickenbarker. So please, spell it right. It really IS NOT Squire, it is SQUIER. Rant over.
10. Ah, I see! In fact, for a standard neck, it's now a bit deep! However, it works fine with the Allparts jobie that's on there now. I'm loving it!
11. Squier, so far as I know, although there are no markings on it.
12. Starting to look like a sunburst Geddy! Still some work to do yet, so the bridge will be changed for a chrome one, and some Wizard 64's and a KioGon wiring harness will be installed at the earliest opportunity! What's been done so far - new neck (thanks Higgie!) and a genuine Fender control plate in chrome. Just need a proper Fender string tree!
13. I used to have one exactly like this, years ago...should never have got rid of it!
14. Shiny set (original style) sold. Dual Design tarnished (reliced?) set still available!
15.
These are fantastic, I think the single most useful bass related gadget I've bought. Everyone knows about the tempo/key alteration and the bass enhance/cut. I use it for silent practice but it can also feed an aux input on an amp, I use it in conjunction with a 2.1 computer speaker at work. I even used it once for two basses with one amp for lessons - one bass in the normal input and one via the Tascam into the aux in
+ the ome!
