1. Fretless is packed up and ready to wing its way to a new home at the far end of these isles. Fretted still available. Feel free to try me with offers.
2. Sold Mark an effects unit -- very smooth deal. No problems at all. Thanks Mark
3. Bump. Feel free to hit me with offers, the worst I can say is no. Well, that's not the worst I *can* say but it's the worst I will say. I'm nice like that.
4. Bump -- still here. Open to offers for one or both basses.
5. Another new addition: The premium Ibanez put on the fancy-topped models is ridiculous but I think I got a decent local Gumtree deal. Overkill is my middle name.
6. Jazz body and Precision neck of unknown provenance (pretty sure not Fender, despite the headstock decal) -- described to me as 'Japanese' by the BCer who I got it from (who I believe did the assembly). Tuners and a 5 string conversion hardware are Wilkinson -- for those who haven't come across this before, the D string is anchored in the string retainer and you get an extra headless-style tuner at the bridge. It's a bit of a PITA to string but keeps tuning really well. Pickups are EMG -- you can just about see the logo where it's not been worn away, but not sure what model as there's no labels I can see. I think there's a 9V battery in there but I've not been into the cavity to check. The neck pickup needs some more material underneath it to bring it closer to the low strings -- I added some already but not enough, apparently. When I got it there was a lot of relief in the neck, which meant it played nicely at the nut end but the action quickly got very high. I've shimmed the neck, adjusted the truss rod and fitted a set of light Elixirs and it plays much better. I think it could really use a fret dress though, there's one low spot around the 14th fret that doesn't sound properly. String spacing is tight but not unreasonable, it's pretty similar to my 7 string bass. The body has it's fair share of knocks and dings, which I've documented in the photos. The pickguard has some extra holes, and the pickups show plenty of playing wear. Controls are standard VVT but the pots seem to have different length shafts. You can see the holes where a different bridge was previously mounted. The headstock face seems to have a different, lighter lacquer(?), maybe from the the decal was done? I took this intriguing piece in trade recently as a potential project, but at the moment I don't really have the time or energy to do anything with it, and the Precision profile neck doesn't really do it for me. If it doesn't sell I'll save my pennies for a fret dress, or a Status neck. Collect from Glagow G51 (near the south end of the Clyde Tunnel) or courier in the UK should be about £25. You're welcome to come inspect and try it, I make a pretty good coffee. £250 ono. Not really looking for trades although you're welcome to try me, especially if you have a 5+ string fretless. 7. No-show from the prospective buyer of the fretless so both basses are still available. Cash sale preferred unless you have a 6 string fretless
8. Roughly 4kg/just under 9lbs according to our scales. String spacing looks like 17mm centre to centre.
9. Fretless on hold pending collection and payment.
10.
As a merchant of cutting filth - utterly glorious.
Got your box quote right here.
11. Nice. *shredding intensifies* Floyds are great if you can get the setup right then leave it there, IME. As long as you don't want to change tuning or gauge they stay in tune forever.
12. Update! It went away all by itself Took the battery out, put the same one back in, tried unscrewing the preamp from the body before realising that wasn't practical and gave up. Plugged it in and it sounds fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
13. Hah, small world -- pretty sure the person who sold this is my dad, unless someone else listed the same thing at the same time for the same price
14. That is a *lot* of bass for not very much money.
15. Bump for the weekend. Can possibly add cash for interesting basses/guitars if you need to liquidate some assets
16. Thanks! I actually thought for a second it was you I bought it from but that was BassJase
17. Thanks! I agree, they are great value. Looked into shipping and it looks like it should be about £25 for the pair couriered to mainland UK.
18. Just got this back from setup: This originally belonged to the guitarist in my first band many years ago, who gave it to me as a fixer-upper, which I did, then it went to my sister for a while, then it sat in my Mum's front room for a few years when my sister moved abroad. Sounds pretty monstrous with a bit of gain on.
19. If I was shelling out £3k-ish for a second-hand bass I'd probably want something I could adjust the action on.
