jim_at Posted April 20, 2010 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I use a USA Precision with S1 switching. Unfortunately the pot has fallen off so I can't actually use this feature. But is it actually worth it? What does it do and what tone does it create? At the moment I believe the switch is 'off', so is that just passive normal P Bass tone? Thanks! jim. basshead56 Posted April 20, 2010 Share Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) it´s basically a series/paralell switch. On a P Bass,once activated, it makes it sound more like a Jazzbass. The opposite is true for the Jazz. Simples Oh, and it hasn´t anything to do with active circuits so, yeah, if it´s off, you have a passive P Bass tone. On, you have a passive Jazz(ish) tone. I've heard great things about what it did to the tone of a Jazz but on a P-bass the tonal switch is a bit lacklustre. That ebay link is £18, you can have mine for a tenner if you really want (assuming it's UK postage? - it may not be off until the weekend as I'm waiting on parts) but if you are hoping for new tones to be unlocked at your fingertips, I think you'll be disappointed. Deep Thought Posted April 20, 2010 Share Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) Utter waste of time on a Precision-I had it on my '07 P and all it did was change the sound from full and punchy to thin and weedy.
