Ric-O-Sound kit (complete - mint)

Recommended Posts

Used for all stereo sound rick's, plug the stereo jack into stereosound on the rick, now you have the neck pup and bridge pup at the end of each mono jack, now plug each one into two separate amps for a more tuneable sound. This is an unbelievably over priced item, for a lot of cable and some jack's. You can make this at home and if you use quality components and it will be far superior. I hope no one on BC is stupid enough to be bidding on this :)

Remember - no-one forces anyone to buy.

I agree that they are overpriced. It's cute to look at though (imo), but people will always pay extra for originals. I must say, I AM surprised what some folks are willing to pay.

Just for once, I am not complaining. Still wish I didn't have to sell it though. :-(

Yes, point taken, one of those nights where you read all posts but the first one, then reply, and the first was not a question at all, being an opinion and of no help to the topic starter.

I beg to differ. Do you not agree that these boxes go for far in excess of what they are actually worth, purely because they have the magic "R" on them?
If I started knocking up "Rob-O-Sound" boxes and advertising them on ebay for more than a tenner, I would be laughed off.
I say good luck to Twickerman, the more money he gets the better, if people are willing to get into a bidding war for it, thats their lookout.
How is that an insult?

Correction. You'd probably get about £50:-

Seriously how much more effort is it to type 'for' instead of '4' ?

Stupid I know but if I was into Ricks I would pay £90 for this, just to have the kit, as it were. Probably not going to see one again and it's good to have the original equipment, I guess. I paid quite a bit for a proper original case for one of my basses... a Thomman case would have done the job just as well - arguably better, but it's not quite the same, is it??

Or this one where they add the .0047 cap into the circuit, for an extra £20 :)

3x jack sockets, .0047u cap, hammond style metal box, neutrik TRS plug and 2m of cable. Total cost £11, labour 20 minutes. Rub in the magic snake oil and add vintage looking logo. Result £79. I shall look into making identical units, advertise them on ebay, and wait for the insults to start flying when they claim I have "stolen their design". I hasten to use the word "stupidity" lest I annoy the mods, but really... :)

I don't think a working Bass player will buy this, we're not that s.....d, you soon pis off your band mates with 2 amps and 2 cabs. A Ric guitarist will be the winner of this as I have never met a stranger breed and its right up they're street.

I had the same idea a few years back, sell someone something they think they need. When I first bought my 4001 in the 70's, I made one and as I had taken out the .0047 cap, I put it in the box and linked it to a DPDT switch, unlike the monkey above who thought he had a brilliant idea to add the cap for those without it, but never thought to add a switch instead of an extra jack. I'm quite happy for you to add this mod to yours, hell I'll even buy one off you just to wind myself up.

In case anyone is thinking of buying the RickySounds product I can vouch for the guy's work personally as he fitted a genuine Ric vintage selector knob/capacitor to my modern 4003. The extra cost of him doing the job or me buying the same part on ebay and bodging through it myself was minimal. I left it at his house, popped out to do some shopping and it was done when I came back, nice bloke too.
