SOLD on EBAY for £272.....

Up for sale is my 1978 Ibanez Musician MC800. I have never seen another one for sale. It has a single passive pickup - all the other Musicians i have seen have the 2 passive/ active pickups.

There is some wear and tear which is understandable considering its age but overall its in great condition. Simplistic volume and tone controls. The pots are are crakle free and the circuitry works as it should do.

An absolutely amazing sounding bass which just doesnt get used much lately and needs a good home.

Offers in the region of £300.

Hi,can I ask you to measure the distance between the pick up and the 12th fret please?

Hi - this bass is an MC800DS, as in this 1979 catalogue:

I presume there has been some damage to the front where the controls are mounted, because there shouldn't be a separate plate.

I measured from the centre of the pickup to the 12th fret and it is 13 1/2 inches.

Thanks for the catalogue Bassassin. Didnt realise the plate wasnt supposed to be on the front so i had a peek underneath. Apart from a bit of glue that was holding the plate there is nothing there. Quite strange as to it being there....

That's good to know - some gentle scratching & maybe a bit of solvent should get the glue residue off.

What a weird thing to do - it's not a cosmetic improvement at all!

It'll need a couple of Sure-Grip knobs to finish it, like these:

Actually I quite like it... sorta MusicMan-esque and the proportions are very sympathetic.

+1 on the knobs though.

Going on what Neepheid pointed out about glue being not necessary, I wonder if it really is glue. It would make sense if it was maybe switch cleaner or something had been sprayed in there and it inadvertently bonded the varnish to the control plate. ???

Beat me to it, was going to say it looks like someone's tried to style it like either a de-pickguarded Stingray or a Wal Pro1
Nice bass though - Ibanez's golden era IMO
