TheBlueFalcon Posted September 28, 2009 Author Share Posted September 28, 2009 (edited) I have just cleaned my fretbaord with lighter fluid and then treated sparingly with lemon oil. As it was so dry I think another light coat is going to be needed. So, inbetween treating it, I thought I'd post some pics. I didn't want to flood it and cause any problems, so I've been using very thin coats of lemon oil and leaving it inbetween. As you can see, I'm nearly there now. The difference is shocking. lee650 Posted September 29, 2009 Share Posted September 29, 2009 I love treating my fingerboards with lemon oil, my jazz especially comes up really nice!!!, my ken smith has a pau ferro fingerboard, but ive not used any on that yet! Dave (essential tension) a small word of warning, if your using it on the WAV the fingerboard is actually dyed, i gave it a clean with some dunlop guitar polish and a load of it came off, to show a lighter coloured wood underneath (prob still ebony just not jet black) just a thought mate!! all the best, remember lads when it comes to lemon oil addiction!!! I had thought it had dye on/in the fingerboard wood because it sometimes gets on my fingers. So, do you think the fingerboard is a sort of 'pale' ebony or is it something else? It happens when the baord dries out enough it shrinks (dehumidifiers make it happen surprisingly fast), I soaked loads into a guitar and now its not like playing a saw any more.
