The thing is, they kinda have a point!

Fashions change and twenty years ago, I only played active basses, but I find myself being pulled back to using passive Fenders (just like when I first started gigging). Sound engineers love them and I just saw a Tom Bukovac video, where he suggested that a Fender Precision is still the bass, the only one that will work on every session he does. You might not personally agree, but you can't disregard his opinion - it carries a lot of weight.

Don't get me wrong - I have an active 'super jazz' and a stingray and they both sound great. But I still find myself taking a passive Fender out to most of the gigs that I do.

Hidden the posts that are based on pricing a specific bass, because thats against the rules, as mentioned. If you need help with a specific valuation, please use the wozzit worth forum.

Fair enough…

maybe a relatively new member not 100% certain on the etiquette of the forum?

Why not message and guide them, if you haven’t already?

I’m always happy to help via PM if anyone’s not sure on what their bass is worth.

just an FYI if anyone’s reading 👍🏼

Whilst I know the original post hinted strongly at valuing an individual bass, my reply (which has disappeared) wasn’t - I commented on the piezo on the bass, showed him the EBMM database entry for it, and guided him to look back through the thread for people’s views on the values of Stingrays - I suggested places he could sell it including here….

Except part of that conversation was someone mentioning to them the rules of off marketplace selling, including showing the actual rules, so I think it was clear.

Yeah a bit odd @AndyTravis - particularly as the piezo has its own control, so you can mix in as little or more you like. You can have full magnetic (no piezo) or full piezo (no magnetic) and anything in between. The three EQ controls work on both. So if you preferred, you can ignore the piezo completely (turn it off).

The quantity of bass players these days whose experience is that bass guitar controls comprise only a volume and tone control  in 2026 is absolutely astonishing - if it was 1971 ok, but you’d have thought we’d learnt a bit more in 45 yrs lol!! Back then there were cars being sold without heaters and rubber mats instead of carpets, let alone any of the other gizmos we’ve come to expect all these years later, but no one in their right mind would accept that in a modern vehicle!!

Something I have noticed over the years about peizo-equipped EBMM basses is that they usually tend to be pretty heavy. Somehow the peizo gubbins seems to add a bit of weight. Unless it's just a coincidence.

It wasn’t that clear.    I understood it to say only forum supporters could ask for prices.  So that’s what I did.
