Here we go then , after an outright winner was declared for January, @upside downer was over the moon with having the honour of choosing our theme this month.

Its not BS to say I chuckled somewhat when I opened the message :D

By way of an introduction upside downer  mooooses...

"A farmer paints stripes on her cow to increase its visibility at night and prevent car accidents if it wanders onto the road during blackouts in World War II. I wonder if Lee Marvin ever starred in a film called 'Paint Your Cow'? "

RULES ...

Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline.

No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on

Bagpipes, well its not a belted Galloway up there , so be careful.

No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you..

Deadline-wise, we will close the entries at midnight on the 22nd Feb , which in effect, will stretch to teatime on the 23rd, but don't milk it

A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be grand.

enjoy.

Those stripy outfits make the poor cows hips look big?

I used the Harley Davison TB-70 for this. It has a clean preamp and some heavy gauge strings, uh hu. Run into the POD VST amp model. then a bit of top end into some modulation to widen it.

Made a synth kick drum and used a hat loop and midi samples.

Made an ambient sound with a cow, and added the cries of distressed cattle.

Added some synths, then grilled a rump steak for 10 minuets each side, served with chips.

Inspired by the pic of a majestic Zebra, I thought we needed some dub to celebrate the hole * of the plains Zebra...

Bass = Wal

Guitar = Squier Toronado

Keys, drums = Ableton onboard sounds

I had lots of fun doubling up piano and guitar stabs and mangling them with oodles of delay and phaser, with backwards bits and who knows what sort of devilish trickery.

* edited to say my song isn't about Zebra's holes, but homes!

I’m sure that our musical styles will differ somewhat and I won’t listen till mines done , but I have gone down the zebra route as well 😂

this one is for shits and giggles

After bashing a few riffs about I stumbled on one that I liked, I matched up a drum sound and pattern that I thought suited.

when trying to sort it into a song format , I thought I recognised the style of of , so I ran with it

its the Beef 52's

Gordon Smith bass, Ibby 6 string, EZ drummer holds it together and a songlark topping the sonic experience , all slapped with a few FX and wrapped in some ozone8

Spoiler

Well I see a bovine at the side of the road that says

see the white stripes at the cow shed

Ive got a thick skin that I cant hide

But you will steal from me the last of my pride

Id rather keep away and stay inside cos

If my friends could see me now then I’d be mortified

I won’t  be dancing on the A51

At least not until the traffics all gone

What did you think that I was gonna do

Go and take a waltz along the b52 oh yeah

How now brown cow

My name is Deborah I’not a Zebra

My name is Deborah I’not a Zebra

So can we all just get a little bit calmer

When I’m heading,  back to the parlour

Under the eye of a grateful farmer

While I wear my suit of stripey armour

So  don’t Flatter me with your presence ,

I don’t need your luminescence

And If you really want the cars to stop

Then hire an old guy with a lollipop oh yeah

How now brown cow

I can produce a handwritten version of the lyrics on some scrap paper that might be worth millions in a few years ...  only a tenner each guys
