Mrnace Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hey, Nathan here. Been learning Bass about a month, started off with a 2nd hand East Coast MB4, but just upgraded to a Yamaha TRBX74EF PJ Bass and glad I did, its so much nicer to play. I guess I looking to learn a variety of music and songs but can't seem to choose exactly what songs to learn. Hope I can learn alot from this site and use it to motivate me to get better. Cheers. Geek99 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Maybe we need a beginners corner? where newbies can post newbie questions and not feel embarassed? Maybe find the answer is already there? i’d start with bass covers on YouTube if it were me. 1 Quote
ghostwheel Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Another option is to get some software which splits stems (Logic Pro is perfect, albeit a little bit costly. There also is some free software). It might be considered cheating by some purists, but why not if it does the trick. Sometimes, it’s quite helpful to be able to listen to a bass line separately. 1 Quote

Go with songs you like to listen to as a starting point, probably avoiding those with what are considered advanced/busy bass lines, at least to start with. 1 Quote
Geek99 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I think my point is that beginners don’t know what is actually simple and what is not a video of it being played plus tab for reference however might make something feel achievable 1 Quote

Weren't there about five or six who haven't bought anything for a whole year? @Mrnace I'm referring to this. Quite a lot of reasonable thinking as well as some beautiful failures there. 2 Quote

Well, this is a way I haven't been insulted in yet. Quote
