BubbasnEvilGenius Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago This is the first time that I have dealt with an active preamp. I bought a pre wired 2 band preamp for my jazz bass originally. But, decided to install it in my generic P bass instead. I couldn't find the right wiring diagram on Google or anywhere I looked online. I was wondering and hoping if anyone on here to help me out with my bass? You got a wiring diagram that would be amazing. This preamp has a master volume that is an 1 mega ohm audio taper pot. A bass & trouble cut there are B-50 killaohm pots, and a MN250K blender pot. I would greatly appreciate it? If anybody can help me figure out this wiring! P.S. instead of having this PB split called pickup connected. I know him two single coil pickups. I'm going to upload pictures of my preamp and the wires a little cock eyed. Any help would be truly appreciated especially if there's a wiring diagram or some other type visual along with everything. The first picture is of my pickups and the blend pot. The second picture is the bass and treble cut. Along with the brand module. I would also like to add either spdt or D PDT switches., I have a dpdt slide switch, and spdt mini toggle on off on switch. Lastly the output Jack is a mono stereo Jack. I kind of have an idea on how to connect all the wires and make it work right. Cuz the other day I had her completely together. I was testing the preamp out. Two different amps Quote

Two different amps I am not sure if I am following your problem here - you had this preamp working on a jazz bass, and now you want it on a P bass? Do you have a picture of the label on the preamp or an indication of what make it is (like from when you bought it) - the blend doesn't work but obviously some preamps (most?) the blend is before the preamp - the rest of it would be exactly the same as how it was originally installed. You say you want switches - for what? Quote
Beedster Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Biggest challenge is going to be where you put the battery I suspect, PBasses are not an easy ask for off the shelf preamps Quote
BubbasnEvilGenius Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago I got a g Larry generic {P bass}. That I bought from Temu a little over a year ago for $75. A few months back I bought a blended two band active preamp from Temu."I was planning on installing it in my jazz bass. Since it came on the [Jazz]control plate." Where would I put the battery in my P bass? Is what you are asking me. The battery will sit underneath the pickguard. I done routed out part of the body underneath the pickguard. Everything fits under there like it was meant to be there. I figured out why I keep getting the hissing sound. Even though I seen it many times online. When I was looking for ideas on different wiring for guitars and basses. Active preamps or pickups the ground wire goes in to the ground on the upper Jack right? Then you got another ground that comes off that output Jack straight to the ground right? I removed the original output Jack. Because I believe that it was actually a little bit too long for my generic p-bass. So I replaced it with the mono output Jack. When I read or watch the video about preamps and action pickups and all that. You need a stereo output Jack to run active preamps and pickups right? That is why I was getting the hissing sound. I learned one big thing though. It had a 500K pot for the volume. (I actually do not like 500K potentiometers!)Well I replaced the mono TS pot for I switched mono output Jack. That is what I was holding in my hand took a picture of. I also had to replace the MN 250k blend pot. I put the same value potentiometer in place of the blend pot that came out. The only reason why I did that. Is because the blend pot that came with the preamp. Had a little small circuit board attached to it. Diodes capacitors resistors semiconductors conductors attach ed to the circuit board that was attached to the blend pot. I hope that me summarizing of what I said last night or early this morning. Kind of clear things up for y'all. If not I'm sorry I apologize. This s*** I've been through in my entire 48 years on this planet. Quote

I'm starting a small business of guitar repair, electronic repair, Auto repair, and really anything just broke Denise fixed. Bring it up Bubba Lee owner of Evil Genius Creations. I do things to guitars and basses. That people tell me they can't be done like that it has to be this way or has to be that way you got to use this value capacitor with that value potentiometer. I asked if they could show me where it says it has to be done exactly like this it cannot be done like that. I've gotten into a 9 hour conversation on Reddit. For installing 100K potentiometers with a 6800 uF capacitor. I posted it Reddit just to see what I can stir up. The next thing I know I'm in a conversation at last 9 freaking hours. So you figure out how to put the battery in a p Bass without having to cut too much off the body to install the battery cover. Quote
