Top tip - Steinberger/Hohner players

In case you didn’t know (many already do), I highly highly recommend putting “Thrust Bearings” onto your tuning screws….. it massively improves the tuning accuracy and ease of use.

 

 

 

 

Many already know, but in case you don’t, it cost a couple of quid, and is a game changer.

True. I added similar bearings to my "Status", and the feel and accuracy became a lot better.

I did this to both my Hohners and it makes tuning a breeze but at the cost of losing that long-term tuning stability. 

 

I have a plan to see if I can recess the knobs to restore the original appearance.

Tuning stability shouldn't be affected once everything has properly bedded in - the tuning system is still an inclined helical ramp so the inclination (sorry) to slide remains the same, it's just the turning of the screw that is affected.

I am surprised but the fact is I have to tune it evry couple of weeks instead of a few times a year!

 

I think they are now vulnerable to being knocked, or to temperature cycling.

 

This is mainly the B2 I keep at my partner's home.

I've had my B2A for 40 years as I bought one of the first ones to be imported. This looks like an elegant mod, however I'm not sure what problem it is fixing as I've never had any tuning issues the half-dozen or so times I've had to tune it.
