Rayman Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 (edited) In case you didn’t know (many already do), I highly highly recommend putting “Thrust Bearings” onto your tuning screws….. it massively improves the tuning accuracy and ease of use. Many already know, but in case you don’t, it cost a couple of quid, and is a game changer. Edited December 24, 2025 by Rayman 11 Quote
itu Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 True. I added similar bearings to my "Status", and the feel and accuracy became a lot better. 1 Quote
PaulThePlug Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 F4-10M Thrust Bearings on my B2 (4 for about £5 on the bay) 2 Quote
tauzero Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Also applies to the Cort Space and Ibanez EHB. 1 Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 I did this to both my Hohners and it makes tuning a breeze but at the cost of losing that long-term tuning stability. I have a plan to see if I can recess the knobs to restore the original appearance. 1 Quote
tauzero Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Tuning stability shouldn't be affected once everything has properly bedded in - the tuning system is still an inclined helical ramp so the inclination (sorry) to slide remains the same, it's just the turning of the screw that is affected. 1 Quote

I am surprised but the fact is I have to tune it evry couple of weeks instead of a few times a year! I think they are now vulnerable to being knocked, or to temperature cycling. This is mainly the B2 I keep at my partner's home. Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 I've had my B2A for 40 years as I bought one of the first ones to be imported. This looks like an elegant mod, however I'm not sure what problem it is fixing as I've never had any tuning issues the half-dozen or so times I've had to tune it. Quote

They tend to stick after a few years of inaction ... Quote
Rayman Posted December 28, 2025 Author Posted December 28, 2025 Yep, mine were extremely sticky and a pain to use. Now they’re not. Quote
