RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted Thursday at 20:07 Posted Thursday at 20:07 I am in the process of making all my bass collection headless only . I have been mulling over whether to get a 5 string ( mainly due to the low b) . I was thinking about getting something more expensive next year , but as I’m just messing around at home it’s probably a bit overkill to do so. This brings me to the topic above . I noticed that for some reason, the black version of the space 5 is cheaper than the green one and I haven’t a clue why that is . Not only that , the average price seems to be around the £ 749 mark . The prices are from Bassdirect ,and gear4music among others. A couple of days ago , the green one was going for £649 on Gear4music and I should’ve snapped it up ! But tomorrow is Black Friday 😮💨! This evening on the G4M website , the black one is £658 ( the cheapest I’ve seen so far) while the green one is £749 . I just sent a message to G4M asking why the black one is cheaper. I’m not sure what to expect , but I’m a big fan of theirs . If they let me have the green one for £658 then I’ll take it! If it’s £675 I’ll probably do so . I guess that hey are popular, and I’ll probably not get a better deal than that at this present time . Your thoughts?? Quote
Sean Posted Thursday at 20:33 Posted Thursday at 20:33 Breathe. You'll work it out. They're excellent basses. My tastes are so broad with colours, finishes, neck carves, etc that if my #1 priority was low price, colour wouldn't matter. It's not like any of the colours of the Space basses are horrible. I'd be happy with any of them. 1 Quote
edstraker123 Posted Thursday at 21:43 Posted Thursday at 21:43 (edited) I liked the HILS HNB5 better than the Space -I picked it up new from Andertons at £479 and presumably that deal will come back at some point. Might be worth considering if you haven't definitely made up your mind or got one already. Just checked and they are on offer again at £479. Also Andertons are an easy place to return to if it wasn't for you. Edited Thursday at 21:53 by edstraker123 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago (edited) I received a reply to my query from G4M today , stating that while it’s not typical, the costs of paints and finishes differ. It’s not something I desperately need , so I just asked if the price drops again to please let me know . It would’ve been a birthday present to myself in December ,or today being Black Friday etc .The black is nice too , but I’ll see what gives. Edited 17 hours ago by RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Quote
tauzero Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Seems rather odd as when I bought mine (second-hand), the new prices were identical for green and black. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago I phoned G4M ,and they noticed the difference in price but they said that unfortunately they can’t reduce it and is £749. No problem with the service ,and the chap I spoke to did look to see etc. I told him I’ll wait and see if the price does go down . No biggie worse things in life . Quote
tauzero Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Could be that they restocked greens and blacks at different times, and the wholesale cost had changed in the meantime. 1 Quote
SumOne Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago In my view the green is the better colour (I owned one and it is a decent Bass), I guess most other people think the same so shops can sell the green ones for for more £. 1 Quote
Sean Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) The Germans have a green one B Stock for £619 https://www.thomann.co.uk/cort_artisan_space_5_sdg_b_stock.htm They also have "A Stock" at £675 but you'll have to wait a week or so. Free shipping! Great deal. I got labelled as "entitled" and unreasonable when I expected free shipping on a £700 spend earlier in the year. If I hadn't just landed a "rescue" bass, I'd buy one just to see. I played one and thought it was a lot of bass for the money. Edited 12 hours ago by Sean 1 Quote
Cornwall Steve Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I like both the green and the black version, IMO both colours work well, though shame really there isn't more colour choice. We all like to be a little more individual don't we? Quote
