nekomatic Posted yesterday at 10:12 Posted yesterday at 10:12 Is it likely to fit? Asking for mrs nekomatic who has booked a bassist for an orchestra gig this afternoon and trying to figure out who they can get a lift with… Dunno what the bass is but it’s a 2011 Corsa! Quote
Happy Jack Posted yesterday at 10:39 Posted yesterday at 10:39 Never done it myself, but I've read that you can fit a DB into most small hatchbacks by putting it in "upside down" in the front passenger seat, with the scroll right down in the footwell. Seat as far back as it will go, natch. Doesn't leave a lot of room for a passenger, mind ... 1 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted yesterday at 10:55 Posted yesterday at 10:55 One way is to remove the front passenger headrest and put it in the traditional way though the hatch, so the neck is resting on the top of the passenger seat. Another way is to put the scroll on the top of the rear seat and the body at an angle on a reclined passenger seat (entering via the passenger door. (I used to do this with a Mk2 VW Jetta saloon. Corsa will do you fine for DB carrying duties, no problem. 1 Quote
nekomatic Posted yesterday at 11:40 Author Posted yesterday at 11:40 Thanks! With luck I will not need to make an emergency trip to Knutsford in the big car this lunchtime then. Quote

Makes it pretty difficult to see out of the passenger side window, so be careful pulling out at junctions. Quote
Rosie C Posted 12 minutes ago Posted 12 minutes ago I used to transport my double bass in a VW Fox and a VW Up! which are both quite small. My method was with the back seat down, put the neck of the bass between the front seats, push forward until the tail end is in the boot, then push to the right, so the scroll moves to the left clearing the handbrake and gear lever.
