Beedster Posted Tuesday at 12:35 Posted Tuesday at 12:35 Folks, I bought an new but unfinished 4/4 body/neck from a German firm in 2015, I built it up and have been gigging it since then and am thinking it's about time I applied a finish. I want to oil not varnish, what's the best bet? Quote
Beedster Posted Tuesday at 12:37 Author Posted Tuesday at 12:37 I'd quite like to keep it blonde by the way Quote
JPJ Posted Tuesday at 14:56 Posted Tuesday at 14:56 Most of the oils I’ve used have the effect of darkening the wood (tung oil, tru-oil, gunstock oil), would shellac not be a better option? 1 Quote
Blartfactor10 Posted yesterday at 10:09 Posted yesterday at 10:09 Shellac would give you a nice blonde protective finish, it’s easy to apply with a button rag, dries quickly and is hard wearing, multiple layers giving the best results, I’ve done a few this way and always end up happy with the end product 1 Quote
