Grahambythesea Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Good to see BBC devote a chunk of prime time Saturday viewing to the concert celebrating 100 years of the Opry. Can’t say they were my favourite acts from the US, but the house band were great. I wish the chosen UK acts had represented some of the British Country talent, may be the Shires or Remember Monday. Lozz196 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I caught the tail end of it, and listened to quite a bit on Thursday evening. Whilst I’m not a country aficionado I liked the majority of what I heard - and agree, the house band sounded very good. Quote
Wombat Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Yes, very enjoyable! I was surprised Marcus Mumford was there. But more surprised at the ‘lack’ of any Fenderyness. I thought it would be a prime occasion to whip out something vintage but everyone went ‘super clone’! Quote
Grahambythesea Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago I noticed the bass player was on a Sadowsky and a couple of the teles were by luthiers. Gibson and Taylor were out front for acoustics with Martin trailing behind. Quote

casapete Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago I watched the whole programme and was very impressed with the band ( just superb ) and most of the headline acts, with the exception of the Mumfords contributions. Their vocals were a bit frail and not quite in tune, especially compared with the other main performers. ( I didn’t know the Mumfords were even considered to be a country outfit TBH.) Quote
