Now sold, apparently, but came across this on Reverb recently. I want one!

 

If it’s real, that is - anyone come across such a thing before?

I'd guess if it isn't officially available on Sandberg's site then it is an Ali-Express cheapie with dots and a logo!

Yes, Sandberg has made several of these in the early 00's. Most I've seen had the Basic Ken Taylor electronics package (2 MM humbuckers, active 3-band) and many had a flamed maple top. I missed out on a lefty 5-string in trans blackburst a few years ago. I think they look tremendously cool!

That is a lovely thing. i really like the aesthetic of the slightly modernized Ali Express knockoff rics and this does that really well but you also know it will actually play well!

There are Chinese copies of these - there's at least one owner on the Rickenfakers FB group.

 

I don't think the one in the pic's a knockoff though, it doesn't have the generic hardware & pickups a copy would come with.

Looks absolutely stunning. Always love the look of these modern iterations, burny/esp, indie, retrovibe etc

 

I get all the spiel about protecting his brand and all that but an import ric would sell like crack. I guess he just doesn't like money!
