Sadowsky Metro Express 5
£400
Milton Keynes

Hi

I bought this at the start of the year through this forum, but try as I have, I’m a 4 string kinda guy….so this has to go.
That said, this bass plays and sounds so, so good.
It’s a 1st generation RSD ME, which has had some changes.
The preamp has been changed to a 2 band Glockenlang which allows the bass to also retain a tone control if switched to passive mode. ( sounds killer)
The original logo has been switched for the newer Sadowsky Metro Express one (far nicer IMHO).

The scratchplate has a carbon wrap on, which could easily be removed and returned to the original white if required.

This is a seriously good bass that defies its RSD pedigree, it’s plays so well, the fretwork is great, the build quality is far better than you may expect.

If this was a 4 string, it would be going nowhere.  On which note, I would welcome a trade for a 4 string version of this, either 1st or second gen, with a cash adjustment if required. Or a Spector Legend Neck Thru.

Collection or meet within 1hr of Milton Keynes.

Any questions, fire away.

Noice

I'm tempted, which would make it my fourth attempt to master a 5-string.

Hmmm......

i tried it, and surprisingly found it quite easy, I think the string spacing on this pretty much mimics my 4 strings and so it was far easier than others 5’s that I have picked up and struggled on.

That said, I’m still a 4 strings and player at heart, so it’s up for sale.

This one is a very comfortable 19mm.

I tried one of these in Wunjo's that had the noisy bridge pickup issue. What's your one like in that respect?

Hi Terry

I’ve not had any issues in that respect, I know the original owner had an issue he didn’t like with the original preamp and so changed it to a Glockenlang which is still in it.

This is a great bass and I'm quite tempted to get it back! The original preamp was great but I missed the fact it didn't have a passive tone control, the same way the main Sadowsky preamp has. The RSDs preamp is basically the same but doesn't have the VTC which is quite critical to the Sadowsky sound. The glock preamp cam well recommended as a cheaper option to the Sadowsky as money was tight at the time. It's clean sounding, nice and transparent and a versatile preamp that really supports this bass.
