My ‘Mini Marvel’ well sorted travel, backup, beginner, student, studio, holiday or just noodling on the sofa Bass which is approximately the same size as a Strat!

The Bass is a Fender Squier Mini P Bass in Dakota red with  a lovely flamed maple satin finished neck (so no stickiness) & I’ve listed below the upgrades I made to improve what was already a lovely mini Bass & is in virtually mint condition…….I can’t find any marks anywhere, albeit with my old eyes!

Levelled the frets.

Fitted replacement Tonerider ‘The Duke’ pickups - big fat sound.

Replaced the single ply white pick guard with a lovely four ply - celluloid top layer Tort jobbie.

Standard loom replaced with a Pro KiOgen solderless loom.

Fitted La Bella Black Nylon Tape Wound short scale strings.

Nicely figured Indian Laurel fingerboard which I treated to some Fender Custom Shop oil.

Added a used Gibson Levey’s thickly padded Gig Bag, which has a bit of wear at the top - please see pics, but still does its job with fully working zips & fits out of sight in the boot of most cars.

The result of my tinkering is a ridiculously easy to play big fat sounding, lightweight Mini Bass which can be played all day long with a very low action all the way up the neck.

Weight is just 2.7kg, or 5.95lbs  in ‘old money’ - so ideal for long Gigs for young and old players alike.

Can post to the U.K. Mainland only, sorry at cost price of £23.95 24 hour, fully insured.

I’ve got one of these (not to this great spec) , for anyone who hasn’t tried one they really are good, and mr dodgnofski is amazing to deal with, GLWYS

I played one of these in my local shop, a while back. I was amazed at just how nice it was, and surprised at how good the sound was, from the factory pickups.

Nice mods - I'm sure the pickup is great, and Kiogon wiring loom kits are always top notch....

But that Tort scratchplate instantly makes the bass look that much better! Nice 😀

Edit: if I didn't already have an amazing Jabba mini bass, I'd be sorely tempted.

EDIT2: dammit! I'm still sorely tempted! Lol 😀

I have to echo many of @Mark S comments.

I, too, had one of these and like Mark was surprised by the versatility and the sound quality of this bass.

Do NOT underestimate these...you get REAL bass tones in a compact form.

Like Mark, I also have a Jabba short scale but I'd encourage anybody that hasn't tried one of these to do so at the earliest opportunity.
