For sale is my Yamaha BB735a 5 string PJ In Fired Red (one of the new colours out) - this bass is less than a month old, I’ve played it a handful of times and gigged in once - still has the plastic wrap on the battery compartment

Comes with a very nice padded Yamaha Gigbag which is fur or velvet lined (something like that anyway - it’s nice and soft ha)

The bass is incredibly high quality - same pickups as the BBP range, 6 bolt Miter neck joint which makes for an extremely tight fit, the body is sandwich of Alder/Maple/Alder, the neck is amazing to play - the quality of these BB700 series is just crazy

Its active with a 3 band preamp, and an active/passive switch - in passive mode the treble control works as a normal tone control would on a passive bass, which is a really nice and useful touch and the preamp has a red led battery light

This link to the Anderton’s page for this bass which has all the info and specs on it: https://www.andertons.co.uk/yamaha-bb735a-bass-guitar-in-fired-red/

*19/5: Back up for sale*

**Reduced to £550 inc. Free UK Delivery**

Hey Paddy,

How's the B string on this? I believe the 2025 models (which includes the Fired Red and Indigo Blue) had a bit of a tweak here and there so may have improved the B??? Slightly subjective subject as there was quite a marked difference of opinion regarding the B!

I've not seen any reviews of the newer model as yet so I'm sure chatters would appreciate your view buddy!

Regards

Gaucho

I never played one of the older ones, so I can’t compare it to those, but it’s a very good B string - I’ve not given it a lot of thought which is a very good sign, I generally only think about the B string on a bass when it’s farty and dull every time you play a note, and this definitely isn’t the case here. Like everything on the bass it’s absolutely spot on, a proper working bassist’s bass.

I use the B string a lot, I pretty much live between frets 3-12 on the B and then moving across the bass, and when a B string is crap you can’t do that.

Great looking bass this. When you say it's less than a month old do you mean you've had it less than a month or it actually came off the production line less than a month ago?

I don’t know when it came off the production line obviously, but it was bought brand new less than a month ago

Okay. You said the bass was less than a month old which drove the question from me. Thanks. Also do you know the weight at all? I tried one in Guitar Guitar in this finish and it felt like it weighed about 11 pounds or so.

I’ll weigh it later, it’s lighter than my Lakland 55/60 which is 4.4kg, so it’s nowhere near 11lbs thankfully 😁

Let's see how fast it shifts at this price. No one's taking the bait yet which surprises me 🙂

Paddy, Can I ask why you're selling it if you only bought it a month ago? Thanks, Mac

Yeh of course, I bought this but then shortly after got the chance to buy back my old Lakland 55/60 which I couldn’t pass up as it was the one bass I have always regretted letting go. Since I got that back it has basically been by number 1 gigging bass and nothing else is really getting a look in. I’d rather keep the 735 as backup, and for an alternative sound with the PJ config, but in truth I can’t afford to do so, and I’ve over stretched myself a bit buying the Lakland back (TL:DR - I need the money!)

I’m gonna pull this and keep it if it’s not gone by the end of today - it’s a fantastic bass and I’m really selling myself short at this price, it should never have been under £600 really, it’s basically up for £525 as shipping is included - it’s banged up MIM fender money but you’re getting a very well made Yamaha. Anyway fair warning if you’re looking at it and considering it, I’ll be pulling it tonight if it’s still not sold! Cheers 🫡
