I didn't take it any further - it didn't feel like a risk I wanted to take with my basses.

However, their website tells me that the company has gone from three reviews, to over 17,000 reviews,  in 6 months.  That's equivalent to around 3,000 reviews per month or 100 per day, every day of the week.

So, for all the healthy cynicism displayed by basschatters, 4 people an hour (throughout the day and night) are happy enough with the service to leave a positive review.

Does that amount of shopping traffic sound plausible for a business that is less than two years old?

Yeah I saw those numbers and it felt like a lot….thanks for doing the maths to make it feel even less likely haha

Cheers

This is a genuine review of Gear up Music

Anyone having doubts about this company. I will tell you my experience. At first I was very sceptical.

I had an Alvarez Electro / Acoustic Guitar and a Yamaha C40 classical Guitar that I wanted to sell.

Looking around for someone to buy them. I looked at the reviews for Gear up Music. All the reviews were good.

I filled in two valuation forms. One for each guitar. I wanted between £80 - £120 each for the guitars. Within 5 days I got a reply from Dean.

He offered me £85 for the Alvarez and £40 for the Yamaha. I wrote back declining the £40. I also enquired whether he had valued the Alvarez, as just an acoustic or Electro / Acoustic.

Dean wrote back and offered me £100 for the Alvarez. As he hadnot realised it was a CE model. I accepted £100. Dean explained everything regarding packaging and how I would like to receive payment. I requested payment via PayPal.

Two days later the packaging arived. We arranged day and time that Parcelforce would pick the packaging up. All paid for by Gear Up Music.

Two days after Dean had recieved and checked the guitar I received The £100 into my PayPal account.

Sorry for going on and on about this.

Anyone dealing with Gear Up Music. Will have no problems at all. Ask Dean any questions and he will reply.

Good luck

Eddie (Blackpool)

cheers Dean

They have an Ebay store, interestingly not called gearupmusic but thekingdomofgames. They don't seem to have bought anything through Ebay, only sold stuff, and they do have 99.6% positive rating. Items in their Ebay store don't seem outlandishly priced, but I haven't scrutinised them, just cast a glance over them.

No sign of reviews on Trustpilot - is there anywhere else that might have reviews?

Interesting... I'm pretty sure I recognise the Jazz they're selling from an advert on Basschat earlier in the year.

They have a couple here.

Thank heavens, as otherwise there would be none that could be guaranteed to be independent.
