NancyJohnson Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Afternoon. So, following my transition from a tripod stand to the NS Design frame strap sysyem, I find myself in a situation where I need a stand to hang the NXT5 on and none of my current stands are tall enough. I need a stand 48" from next volute/headstock. Tallest I've found is a Stagg stand (Stagg SV-EBD/ECL) - see below - has anyone got one or can provide me with suitable alternatives? The pictures or the Stagg stand are a bit rubbish. Website doesn't really give over much. Reluctant to check £80 at a stand and it doesn't work. Quote
Burns-bass Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I guess my concern is that you’ll be leaving the bass on the floor which will result in damage. Could you potentially use a wall hook? Alternatively, given the majority of the weight is at the base, something like this might work. https://www.yamahamusiclondon.com/product.php?product_id=STD-01-RD&source=froogle&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD8vqVrIDqoEE3jUQps9Wzmh2jJgp&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgdC6BhCgARIsAPWNWH0xf1NMchvgRIYACGEaF2D1Mg44jZFOuvxqR9yZt3EdRmmnOqTJe8IaAps6EALw_wcB Still be precarious but if you don’t have little kids running around it might be OK? Staggering on Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) I have one of the Stagg stands and it worked well with the Stagg EUB that I had, solid and secure. When I sold the Stagg I kept the stand to use with my Yamaha SLB 200 and have had no problems. Lots of things to adjust including the endpin support and the top of the stand although you might have to add or modify some parts. Edited December 8, 2024 by Staggering on Quote
NancyJohnson Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 Hopefully a solution. I've removed the bolt attachment from the original NS tripod (there's a decent hole) and have bought a long-armed Hercules wall hanger: My intention is to cut the wall plate off and then tap the end of the steel and bolt it to the NS tripod. In theory it should be quite simple. What could possibly go wrong? 😂 1 Quote
police squad Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I had that Stagg stand for my stagg 3/4 EUB. it was perfect Quote
NancyJohnson Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 The Hercules part arrived a couple of weeks back, but to be honest my schedule has been very full pre-Christmas, so it'll get sorted in the New Year. I've taken the top of the original stand apart (a little more than at the point of my last post) and did a little figuring out about how to join everything together. I just want to retain the stand's originality so I can revert back to default if needs be. I have a young bloke nearby who did a bit of metalworking for me a while back, so I may knock him up to do this. Quote

NancyJohnson Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Well, in an interesting twist in my search for a stand for my NXT5, there's been an odd twist. I'm not using (or plan to use) the supplied NSD stand; I'm fully paid up for the Framestrap. A few months ago I bought a Hercules GS4stand, possibly the smallest one they make, a GS402B: ... amazingly, the EUB sits comfortably on the two front legs and the swing arms swivel enough to add a bit more support. I've stuck some heavy duty felt pads on the legs to protect metal on wood damage, but frankly, jobs a good 'un. The bass is a couple of inches off the floor and pretty secure. 2 Quote

It's a one-size-fits-all contraption manufactured by NS Design that connects to the EUB at the same point as the tripod mounting bolt, allowing you to 'wear' the bass and move around with it. It took a bit of time to get everything in the right place, but as a consequence it won't go on a stand. I was looking for a stand of some kind rather than leaving the instrument propped up in a corner. Quote
