How do I get the tone used in 'Bonkers'?

Sounds like a keyboard to me, but you could try a heavily compressed and gated fuzz sound.
Maybe a Devi Cherry Pop, or a Wooly Mamooth.
Actually, most of the Devi fuzzes will get you in the right ball park.

For that sort of sound live, i use a Sinister Analog Soul Provider, which is just awesome.

woolly mammoth is a lot of money.... 350 dollars i think. Tried to get one but with all the shipping and taxes was a fair bit.

I'm not sure how it's achieved so does anyone out there know?
use a synth ;p and you'd achieve it better by putting a boost infront of the guv'nor just something to drive it into epic saturation

That’s similar to how I’d go about it I think.

I have a ZVEX Mastotron which was £76 new, posted. It's meant to be quite similar to the Wooly Mammoth i hear.
Does really low fuzzed up sounds, i'd imagine it would work well with a Synth pedal
You'd also need a tap-tempo tremolo to get the pulsing effect in time with the beat.
Moogerfooger Bass murf with the tap tempo would do your job for fuzz & tremolo. There's a s/h MF105b on here & any non latching footswitch would suffice.
I use mine as an overdrive for loads of stuff.
Great bass sound, probably due to Armand Van Helden's involvement.
He seems to love fuzz bass tones lately, & who can blame him! :)

How come you never see girls like that in rock videos anymore?
Shame!

Always thought it sounded like a slightly muffled Saw waveform.
A "Saw" wave kinds sounds like someone drilling through a wall next door...:) That's how I explain it, and this song I unfortunatly know too well (it;s on the radio at work at least 10 times a day!!!) defo sounds like a muffled Saw wave.

In which case you may want a Boss SYB, either the SYB-3 or SYB-5...and I have an SYB-5 for sale LOL!
(Good god...PLUGGED!)
