Joyo AC Tone with a bass

Blimey - I’ve just borrowed a mate’s Joyo AC Tone guitar effects pedal and put my bass thru it. It sounds absolutely lovely. Obvs nothing like an AC30 but a vibrant vintage overdrive which works well on bass and doesn’t snaffle all my low end either.

And a quick Google reveals they are only £35 new. Jeez. That’s that sorted then.

Anyone else tried one?

Sorry, not tried that one, but I do have a (slightly customised!) Joyo British Sound on my slowly growing pedal board. I run it off a line selector to get a clean mix and use it to mix in some Marshall-like mid boosted grit, however the eq is great and it can easily be used as a standalone bass overdrive. Great tones for little outlay. 😎

No, but I do own the California (Mesa Boogie), American (Fender) and Oxford (Orange), in the same series of pedals.

And I kind of plan on getting the British (Marshall) at some point too.

Must admit I don't like the California, too dark for my taste, sounds muffled to me, but you can get some serious monstrously ballsy heavy distortion out of it with the Drive knob cranked.

I like the American, but mostly for guitar, though it has received quite a lot of praise both used for guitar and bass, and even used as stand alone bass preamp.

I love the Oxford, you can get some really amazing snappy grindy and grunty drive tones out of it, but sounds great as a low gain overdrive as well.
