markbunney Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Some new combo's have appeared on the Darkglass website (presumably ahead of NAMM) Ā https://www.darkglass.com/creations/ Ā No info on pricing yet that I can find, but they look good. Ā I have been looking at buying a Darkglass cab to go with my Alpha Omega amp, but might hold off and see what these are like. 1 Quote
MartinB Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 (edited) It says the cabinets are made of balsa wood - I wonder how well they'll stand up to being thrown in the back of the van. Edited January 25, 2024 by MartinB typo 2 Quote

markbunney Posted January 25, 2024 Author Posted January 25, 2024 I dread seeing how much these will cost, given their 2x10 cabs are around £900 and the heads £750 Quote

From reading around on the topic, yeah I assume it must be - but you'd imagine their marketing people would want to turn that into a fancy-sounding feature like "space age lightweight multi-laminate hybrid core" š 2 2 Quote

markbunney Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 I have been looking at getting a Darkglass 2x10 cab which are on sale for around £800-£900, now I am thinking for a few hundred pounds more I can get a whole combo.  Pricey overall though 1 Quote

markbunney Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 They are shipping at the end of March, the digital version looks very flexible. It has a compressor, noise gate, octave, tuner and access to 5 different Darkglass distortions 1 Quote
Black Coffee Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Ive always had a problem with bass want vs bass need - but cost is now the trump card. Ā No ordinary mere mortal hobbyist like me can enjoy this gear at that price and Iām not even so sure that the sound you get for over a grand in a 112 combo is worth the money over a decent setup at 50% of the price. Ā I have the greatest respect for innovation in gear, but I have to bow out of the game now as I canāt keep up any more without getting divorced - againā¦ā¦š© 1 Quote
markbunney Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 I want one, but definitely donāt need one! Ā I have till the end of March to get the want out of my head! Quote
msb Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 I almost picked up a MicroTube amp a little while ago. Theyāre beautiful amps. Iām already well amped , and caught myself just in time. I use the e500 as a practice amp and love spinning the knobs and creating presets.Ā Darkgass fan here. 1 Quote
