Soledad Posted August 19, 2023 Share Posted August 19, 2023 (edited) Had this around 5 years, very impressed and fond but a Sandberg arrived and monogamy dictates this goes. Started life as a Fame (the Mayones rebadged by MusicStore Cologne for reasons only Mayones really know). A few years ago I had a guitar repair guy I know (mainly does vintage hollow bodies etc) re-dress fingerboard, he replaced the Mayones logo and resealed the head. If there was any doubt, this bass is absolutely a Mayones BE4 in all respects - build quality is outstanding: neck pocket fit super precise, ebony fingerboard is dense black and almost unmarked (very feint marks from some rounds long before I had it - very hard to see). Even the cavity cover on rear is carved from a solid piece of Amazique (I believe that is what was used). Condition - excellent, unmarked. Some slightly shiny areas on body and back of neck from playing. The original finish is (I believe) a hard oil, like Warwicks used on the Thumb etc). Not a big fan of current Mayones aesthetics but this is plain, understated and very tasty. Extremely hand-built - the neck and body pocket are hand numbered to match (I have a pic somewhere). Active 9v, MECs, volume (pull > passive); pan; stacked T&B. Currently strung LaBella nylon tapes which suit well. For a slightly punchier sound I rated the EB Cobalt flats highly (lots of good mids to work with). Complete with excellent bag - it's actually a Sire from an M series - fit is bang on and padding on those bags is really good. Can probably ship UK, Europe is possible (UPS) but pricey (just cost me £80 to get a bass from Italy fully insured). Not after trades... just maybe an Ampeg PF50t head. I'd offer a trade of sorts but I can see that you're after a sale ideally. Good luck with the sale. Congrats to the buyer!!
