bigmuff69 Posted March 16, 2023 Share Posted March 16, 2023 Hi people I’ve got an fender California series precision bass,the truss rod doesn’t seem to keep the neck straight,and it’s maxed out with a couple of washers on it as well,and now there’s a crack in the back of the neck,just wanted to know if it’s fixable??,is it a massive job to replace the truss rod,and does anybody have a rough cost,all the best Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
3below Posted March 16, 2023 Share Posted March 16, 2023 (edited) It is fixable, it is not going to be cheap if you pay someone to do it. My guess would be that a (used) replacement neck might be cheaper. If it is any consolation I stuffed my USA G&L L1505 neck with the truss rod cracking the fretboard (not uncommon I am told). Remove the fretboard, replace the truss rod, glue the fretboard again, repairing the crak on the neck, make sure everything is perfectly leveled ...Might not be the best solution.
