It's a nice example of a transitional 4001 (chequer binding/Grovers/Toaster but small inlays) which does make it rare.

However I entirely fail to understand why the fact it's been played/owned by someone whose name might have appeared on someone else's album credits makes it "special". Did he coat it in magic pixie dust which will rub off on the next [s]mug[/s] owner? :)

My thoughts exactly. If it's really better than other basses which haven't been owned by famous people, then why is Stuart Zender selling it?

Doesn't take much to cause consternation over there though :) As for not knowing who Stuart Zender is being an issue, well, i know who he is and don't think that much of him either, he certainly doesn't make the bass more valuable in my eyes  if i was buying it i'd have to factor in the cost of having it disinfected.

I think when I come to sell my bass I'll have to double/treble/quadruple the price and add the 'owned by *Twigman* from SL&G"...after all we've got loads more listeners on last.fm than him which must make me more famous than him. :)
http://www.last.fm/music/Stuart+Zender 1,234 plays (74 listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Sad+Lovers+and+Giants 158,493 plays (17,040 listeners)

Anyone want to buy a Squire JV P (Fiesta Red) for say £2000 ?

mind
http://www.last.fm/music/Jamiroquai 17,665,177 plays (771,738 listeners) might need to be factored in....I suppose

Is that true? Does he really have dirty hands. The filthy beast.

:D +1

This person should be selling it on the fact that it's a nice 1973 Rick...nothing else.

Never mind getting Stuart's signature on a certificate of authenticity, I'd be looking for the signature of two bass-playing doctors on a section, to give whoever pays £3K for this a short stay at a state mental institution.

Seriously, Guitar Guitar sold a very similar example through their Glasgow store for £1,350 (ticket price) a few months back. A good price, maybe.
