Bacchus Strong

I was admiring a Bacchus Strong on ebay earlier today reportedly previously owned by Greg Lake which was at £750 with no bids -due to finish tomorrow. The listing then ended so presumably somebody had offered the owners asking price(hopefully a fellow BC'er). Was this good value ?- I couldn't find much info about this particular model.

How good are the Bacchus basses- this one looked a beauty ? What is the best model and is there anything to beware of in purchasing from Japan? I currently have a friend living over there which would make getting hold of one a bit easier presumably.

bacchus basses are really good quality, I was briefly in possession of a right handed one (don't ask) and it sounded wonderful. Admittedly it did have a J retro in though

I've got a Bacchus Strong EXT36 (previously owned by a couple of other BCers) and I'd recommend their basses, great build quality and playability. The only downside to mine is that it's a tad on the heavy side (11lbs), so I don't tend to use it for longer gigs.

I've got a BACCHUS IMPRESSION 35-5. The build quality is excellent and the attention to detail second to none. Really light as well.

I had a couple of Bacchus basses, you can see more info and pics on my 'My equipment' thread in the porn section.

I really liked the basses, the Strong in particular. The 36" scale felt great, no problems with that at all. The bass was really resonant, it had superb growl and the build was superb. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of contour to the body which hurt my arm after a while when playing seated. In every other regard though, it was a top class bass. I had a Twentyfour bass for a while too but didn't like it as much, the bass sounded great but somehow didn't have the feel for me. I didn't get on so well with the alder body.

I bought a Bacchus standard here recently from Funky Dario(Custom spalted maple top/h-stock, ebony board) and the quality of the woods/components and finish is outstanding. Unplugged the thing sings - wonderfully resonant, ringing harmonics, even and true up and down the 'board. The only thing I would change is the Bartolini pre, but only because I would prefer a slightly different config (it is treble/bass boost only, with mid trim post in the cavity). Outside of this the bass is top quality, and absolutely beautiful to boot!!! It sounds beautiful plugged in also - the sound clips will verify this, so good in fact that my slight reservations over the pre will more than likely be over-ridden unless I can aquire a pre that allows me to retain the beautiful custom knobs - otherwise it would now be housing an audere or east pre, and probably be a bass for life!

I've got a Standard 5 and a Woodline P Classic, plus a couple of Bacchus guitars too. Everything I've played from them has been wonderful, their pickups especially are just bang on the money. To be honest I prefer my Bacchus' to anything else I've ever played... as the classifieds are testament to

There are a couple of sites in Japan who deal in US dollars, so you can pick them up at very reasonable prices if you know where to look.
