Buying an 8 track of the internet

I've been thinking along the same lines so, if you don't mind, I'll lurk here :)

The only disadvantage with the BR600 is that it records to CompactFlash (not a hard drive) and it can't take the latest very high capacity CF cards. That limits the record time/quality a little.

But you get what you pay for.

I've also been looking at the Tascam DP01FX and the Fostex MR8-HD.

Another disadvantage is the BR600 doesn't have midi ports. But for the money, I could live without them.

I don't need MIDI myself. Note that the Boss BR600 needs a power supply, so that adds another £10 to the price.Plus it only comes with a 128MB CF card so you'd probably want to replace that with a bigger one (another £10/£20) fairly soon. I did come across a complaint that the BR600 has a limit on the capacity of CF cards it supports - so don't buy a big one until you know it will work !

I've been looking at absolutemusic.co.uk. I bought something from them a while ago and they were very good.

Maybe someone else will pick up on this soon....

cheers for the link, prices seem quite reasonable.

found this for the flash cards - 1gb cards £4.99+delivery.

Nice piece of kit. I have the same but without the CD burner and it is fantastic. I recorded the whole 'Crap - absolute crap' album on my site with it.
Tasty.

Nice price, but I'm waiting to hear back from someone about a Boss.
Can you program your own drum patterns without an external sequencer?
Hello MacDaddy!

I sugest you to save the money for BR1200CD or BR1600CD cause they dont have Compact Flash, they are truly harddisk recorders, they came with 40 gigabyte hard disks!Hear some of recordings with BR1600 CD on my myspace site!
hi, you've got it sounding good. I checked the spec of those, but they were just a bit more technical than I could cope with.
