another nasty italian...

biro

hi everybody, I'm biro. Italian bass player, living in the astoundingly beautiful (though astonishingly boring) florence, probably going to spend some time in leicester next year (god bless the erasmus programme). I'm a law student, I play in couple of bands, mostly fast and heavy stuff, and I'm a total gearhead.

My main bass is a 1991 Peavey TL-Six bass, Tim Landers signature six-stringer. Great instrument, and, as stated in some review on harmony central, a real poor man's Alembic. I also own one of those infamous H&S ebay phenomena: a Sequoia six string fretless, which I consider one of the sweetest deals I've ever made, and a Spirit by Steinberger 5 stringer.

I don't care too much about the amps. They're big and heavy and I'm too lazy to carry them out. And since I'm kind of a nerd, and getting used to Guitar Rig and Ampeg SVX was not a problem, I tend to rely on a good tube preamplifier and a laptop for my gigs.

As a few brave ones may care, here are the links for my youtube channel and myspace page:

Before i forget: I've been dragged here by Boneless... but, unlike him, I'm not a native speaker. Please be kind! I hope I'm not going to bother you with my awful grammar skills.

Welcome to Basschat.
My Italian only extends to ordering food and drink and asking for the bill.
so I'll stick to English.

I have a Peavey Tim Landers 5 string. You don't see many of them around. Great bass and an Ebay bargain bu I had a hell of a job trying to source spare pots to replace worn out tone controls. Manged to get a treble and bass one sent from Peavey USA but still can't find a mid/ mid sweep one.

thank you so much guys. it's great to find such an amazing welcome committee! I really have to say that this forum is surprisingly cool, and I'm already in love with it. apart from that, it's a great way to talk about basses and bass-related stuff, while practicing some written english. I definitely need it. luckily enough, it looks like I haven't completely lost the ability to write an understandable sentence in this language. that's a heartening result, since my university exchange programme application is eligible to be selected in just a bunch of months... i need to hurry up (and write a lot!) in order to recover completely!

GreeneKing, a heartfelt thank you from my language skills ;)

Toh, pure tu qua :)

Anyway, folks, he's just too modest, too stupidly modest :P
A great bass player (check out his videos and Myspace... erm, the two links in his signature, they're really worth a look) and great English as well, sometimes even better than mine (and I am half-English - my mother's from Middlesbrough - as well! Shame on me *puts bag over his head* ).

Really, he always underestimates himself, but considering he is completely self-taught (right, biro?) he is really surprisingly good.
Even if he wasn't self-taught, I'd say the same thing
A great asset for the forum ;)
