Basically I spend alot of time looking around, scouting out my next bass. Usually I can't find the right money or the right bass at the right time. But now I have the money and four potential basses have come up and I don't know which direction to turn.

So the candidates are:

-Fender CIJ Precision 62 reissue
-Squier JV series Precision (with EMGs)
-Musicman Sterling 2001 in medallion gold
-Fender Jazz (Japanese) 1984-87

Just looking for the advice and experience of others to help me decide. Didn't want to make it a poll because I wan't to choose it myself but with extra information.

The natural Jazz looks the way to go for me.

It would add a different complexion to your playing and complement your Stingray nicely.
The Sterlings a beaut, but it still basically sounds like a MM.
If the JV had original pickups or something more trad (EMGs - no!) well......
The CIJ P bass - well that would be my 2nd choice.

The reason for the sterling is beacause on my ray I love the tone of old heavy guage strings for fingerstyle playing, but I play alot of slap so i'd use thin strings on the sterling and change them regularly for a bright slap sound.

Otherwise if I bought a Precision I would use that prodominantly for fingerstyle and restring my ray for slap.

However I am leaning towards the jazz at the moment as they are very versitile. (and i've dealt with john (the seller) before)

Oh what to do?!?!

I have a 64 precision, same colour, same guard as the squier, fitted with flats, a white CIJ precision fitted with rounds, a jo osbourne jazz and a stirling.

I think the stirling is an incredibly underated bass, I prefer it to the stingray, and the osboune is a beautifull bass.

But my first choice is generally one of the precisions, because I find the precision just feels so right when I play it.

If it was me, I would have the CIJ,

They're all sweet but I'm biased towards Sterlings with their super necks so sterling it is!

btw the Sterling isnt medallion gold which is much much more yellow. That finish is called Las Vegas Gold. Its a fairly rare factory finish and I've only ever seen a handful

an Albert Lee in the same finish

and medallion gold

good luck with whatever you choose.

cheers

Bugger, just PMd john asking to buy it from him and now I see this. If you ever decide to part with it please let me know straight away.
