You could also look on the basschat wiki. We use LED PAR cans but they are a bit of a pain to set up and break down. Might look for a case to take the t-bar and the cans. I still think, with the benefit on hindsight, that the i-Color heads are probably still the best bet but you do get a bit hot.

Forgot about searching

Useful stuff in there.[/quote]

No problem ... I knew there had been some posts before so you might as well get the benefit of them. :)

It might be worth deciding how much you're prepared to spend on lights first, then asking what you can get for the money.

LED lights are great, if for no other reason than they don't generate the same heat.

In my previous band we used (now forgive me for my lack of teminology) these stands that had four lights on top each different colours and plugged them into a simple 1U controller and that was it. We sometimes had a laser set up too but that wasn't ours and we had no idea how it worked. To be honest though that was enough, nobody really complained about a lack of decent lights. Though i do have a big old vintage light controller that's probably about 25 or 30 years old that i used on one occasion that was very good. I have a load of old light boxes stockpiled somewhere as well but i never got the chance to use the, point is unless you want a light show better than the band you dont really need to spend a lot.

You will not do any better than these : I-Solutions I-Color 3

and even better if you have a band member prepared to use the foot controller
you can get some great light shows. We've had loads of comments on how great the
lights are.

We use the i-Color 3 set, granted it will cost you about £400 for the full set including the box
but the bulbs only cost £1.00 from the DIY shop cos they are std halogens !

Cheper alternative is the NJD Quartet or Spectre. Same idea but less expensive. We use them and the are ace.

I have a case which opens in 2, and has 4 lights in each half, a lead conects the halves, and a kettle lead plugs in the mains. Small and portable, but effective.

The lights react to volume, rather than music (i've noticed) but they do the job, and stop you looking like you're gigging in someone's front room.

They were £40 from the local disco equipment shop - but this was about 5 years ago.

this kind of thing, but they've gone up a bit in price.
