The drummer's 1956 P-bass. 5.) My souped-up Squier Affinity. I had a Fender decal put on it before I knew it was wrong to do--I'll remove it one day. Has Quarter Pounders, and a mute under the bridge cover. I call it my "Igor" or "Motown" bass, and definitely does an amazing job copping JJ's sound...or for recording Grab This Thing.

Grahambythesea
Is it an optical illusion but the dark red Squier on the right seems to have a larger body than the others on the front. Obviously those on the sofa will look smaller due to perspective.

I do feel like it feels bigger, but it doesn't when it's sitting right next to another P body.

bopeuph
What's the story behind them all?
Duck's basses are with his family. Duck's son is producing the demo CD and is overseeing the progress on my book about Duck. The '56 was found by the drummer in New York years ago at a pawn shop for a steal...something like $3k about 20 years ago. My '57 RI (previous typo) was built about a year and a half ago. I got the neck on eBay and the body, electronics, and pick guard from The Stratosphere. It's an amazing player, and is a tough decision between it and my stock Geddy. The Squier Affinity was picked up in a pawn shop for $100 in like new condition. I put the tort pick guard, bridge/pickup covers, pull bar, flats, string mute, and Quarter Pounders on it, and added a nitro finish to the neck. I call it my "Igor" or "Motown" bass.
Who's custodian of Duck's '59 these days?

Bopeuph is!
