Recording my bass lines

Have you a telephone that can record video, or even sound only..? Have you a budget in mind..? How will you want to listen back to these..? Have you a laptop, a PC, a Mac thingy..? So many questions...

You can buy something like a [url="https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-Portable-Digital-Recorder-Version/dp/B003QKBVYK"]Zoom handheld recorder[/url] to ‘just record stuff’ like you might once have done with a tape deck or dictaphone.

You can buy an [url="https://www.amazon.co.uk/Musical-Instruments-Focusrite-Scarlett-2i2-Computer-Interface/dp/B005OZE9SA"]audio interface[/url] for connecting your bass to a computer and record/compose using any number of [url="http://www.audacityteam.org"]softwares[/url].

My suggested [b]Step 1[/b] would be to read the [b][url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/248509-beginners-guide-to-home-recording/"]Beginner's Guide to Home Recording[/url][/b] at the top of this forum. It [i]"does exactly what is says on the tin"[/i], so to speak.

And if you get stuck, just ask! :)

Thanks people ,it was written very quickly at work , I'll go more Into more details been recording some on my phone but these are my own originalish bass lines I have a laptop but prefer my iPad really I'll sit there noodling come up with something great but if I do not get it recorded I forget what I've done ,I'm looking for something that's crystal clear when played back phones are bit hit and miss sound wise imho
