2003 Thumb 5 BO ***WITHDRAWN***

Hey guys I've recently acquired a thumb bass, however tbh I'm not too sure if it is the bass for me. After a good session on my MIM jazz bass last night it got me thinking if I should have held on to my cash & upgraded the jazz instead.

So here for now is just a feeler for this Warwick...

It's a 2003 BO Thumb 5 string. Ovangkol neck & body, 2 band EQ, 24 brass frets etc etc. However if I do sell it it will go with a Just A Nut 3 instead of JAN2. The bass is in good condition with only a couple of small dings, it could benefit from a decent set up though.

There is some fret wear (if marks on the frets count?) the MEC logos on the pickups have rubbed off a bit & a little bit of paint has come off the bridge. Therefore guys I was also just wondering if anyone would be willing to give an approx value for this bass as I do not want to slap a price tag on it parallell to a completely clean example. I bought this bass having been told it was in "near mint condition." Near mint condition - No Good condition? Yes.

So help with pricing etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

Thank you mate. Will take photos tonight & get them up. If I deff do decide to sell hopefully the members of this forum can help me decide a price based on the info given.
Hmmm, even £650 might be a bit full, I've seen them go for £450 on Ebay. I think they're intrinsically worth more than they're making at the moment, so I'd be inclined to hang onto it if you can.
Ouch :)

Sorry guys was a bit misleading when I said theres paint off the bridge, its just off the screws on the saddles.
you'll have to decide on a price mate, or you'll have limited interest. how much did you pay for it?
That's a good point Kev.

I paid about £800 for it including shipping etc. Not interested in trying to make a profit. I'd ideally like say £750 for it.

As a fellow Warwick owner I would like to see you get £750 for this bass but sadly do not think that that is likely. I tried shifting my 1991 Thumb 4 string NT recently and only got up to £700 on the 'bay. Just could not let it go for that low.

I would second the comment that if you can hold on to it for a while then I would as Warwick's are sure to come back into fashion again at some point. Once upon a time they used to be THE bass to have!

Open to trades?

I've had my 91 Thumb NT up for sale for £1000 and no takers yet.

I'm not prepared to let it go for a lot less than it's worth, so it looks like I'm keeping it for now. That just seems to be the current state of the market.....people tightening purse strings, etc.

So either sell for a low price or hang on til prices lift again.

Yep we are looking at hard times. At this rate it's going to be held on to.
