Ibanez Portamento - The closest solid body fretless to a double bass?

Hi Folks,

£450 + shipping or collection in Bristol.

Up for sale is my virtually brand new Ibanez Portamento bass. I bought this brand new on a whim about a month or so ago but now have my sights set on a top end bass so sadly this has to go.

This bass has many interesting features in that it tries to emulate a double bass but in solid body fretless form. How? Well it has a 30 note fretboard length which is the same note range as a double bass, is strung with flat wound strings and has the brand new Aero Silk system which is essentially a piezo based preamp that delivers a beautiful smooth tone without any of the dreaded piezo quack. There are set and forget controls at the back for individual piezo levels and a control for bass level. On the front are volume and treble controls for the piezo plus volume, tone and pickup blend for the Bartolinis. Great review here:

So does it sound like an upright? Umm not exactly but it does have a really smooth and creamy sound that is highly expressive. The video below is a good example:

The bass is in immaculate condition as it is virtually brand new. The only flaw is a tiny dent near the jack socket input which was on it from new. It doesn't come with a case but I will include a gig bag with the sale. Cheers,
Gaz

A little bump for an interesting virtually brand new bass!

Do you think it would be wrong/cheeky to post this in the EUB/Upright marketplace too?

I think it would be a bit cheeky, myself. Perhaps that's just me though.
