Hi
i have a little mystery to solve
I recently bought this used vintage 'Made in Japan' badged jazz bass copy.
Can anyone help me to identify manufacturer and year it was made ?

I have seen many similar looking basses on the net / Aria model 1540, Electra, Greco, Maya, Sakura, Hisonus, Elk BS-490YSB, Fernandes Burny, Columbus /
but none of them identical

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Probably Columbus made by Matsumoku in 70's

Columbus were made by both Matsumoko and Tombo, both Japanese of course. The weird oblong enclosed tuners were very Columbus, but then other old basses from that era could well have used those, but your best guess of Columbus is probably right

The woods look poor enough to be a Columbus, which weren't the best quality, unlike Guyatone or Tokai of the same era, which were much better built
