Adding Another Cab, But Which One????

Hi All,

So, I'm thinking that I might add another cab to my rig after Christmas. GAS tokens allowing, I might even get a deal in the New Year sales.

Currently I have an Ampeg PF 350 and a GK 210mbe. The cab is rated at 8ohm, so I'd be looking for a second 8ohm cab.

Question is, do I pick up a second GK 210mbe or a GK 115mbe?

I have no idea how this will affect the tone etc.

What are your thoughts?????

Cheers

Jon

I`d go for the same cab again if you like it. That way, one cab for rehearsals/small gigs, bring out the second for larger gigs with no need for re-eq-ing. You may get more thump from a 115, and I`ve had some great 210/115 set-ups, but you run the risk of getting a sound you like which can only be found using both cabs - as I did with my 210/115 set-ups. So more carrying to rehearsals etc. Ease of use and practicality, same cab again.

Please can this thread not now be extended into another ego discussion by the usual suspects............ ............

about what bigger drivers, bass thump or extra wattage do or don't do. There's been enough of them for this year.

Fine by me......I've only got 350 tiddly little watts to play with....... :)

I'd go for a second GK 210mbe then you'll get the same tone, just more of it.

This.... if you like this cab, then you will LIKE the pair of them, IMO.
I don't think the 115 version will improve anything..altho it might stack higher,
but I expect it to be bigger to move around and possibly heavier.
