Looks the biz - how much are we talking? I have a warwick one for my Vigier pair which is OK but not very comfortable, even though the two basses are fairly light. Kiwi has just got a new double bag which he says is very good - he will chime in later because I will tell him to ;0) thats right, he's my bitch

Its a nylon jobbie with nylon webbing, double stitching and a thick foam padded interior lined with light grey velvet. There is a divider made from the foam/velvet combo separating the basses from one another. The only downer is that the pockets aren't big enough to carry my fold up stands so I'll have to work around that.

I've had my Levy's one for the best part of ten years. It cost me an arm and a leg at the time but has been probably the best investment I've made gearwise.

They're extremely durable, the straps are wide and very very secure and the padding is extremely thick. Admittedly, it's pretty heavy once I've got a couple of my basses in it but it's easily managed compared to two separate bags or cases.

[quote name='ZPQ' post='23145' date='Jun 25 2007, 06:32 PM']Well I bought the double ibanez bag from thoman - it's excellent for the money.

Appear to pretty well made, decent padding and the wheels are handy.

Hopefully it'll last a few years.

Cheers

How heavy is it? Is it bulky?

It's very light I think, sizewise it's a little bigger than 2 gigbags, there's a little plastic frame at the base where the wheels sit that helps give it shape.

Hope that makes sense

I've got a few questions myself.
How is it to carry via the front handle, i.e. can you walk with it comfortably holding it there?
Does it have a side handle? If so, how comfortable is it and what material is it made out of?
Have you used it on public transport? If so, how was it?
How large is the front pocket. Do you think you could fit a Mark Bass Little Mark II? (http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua=en&cat=1&vedi=69)

Sorry for the million questions. It's just I'm still looking for my perfect soft gig bag solution after trying so many different cases.

The front handle seems to be the one I use most (so far) that way you can wheel it.

There is a side handle but it's not as comfy (to me)

I'm lazy so I don't use buses etc.

The front pocket should easily hold a little mark - I'll check tomorrow night with my mates amp.

Do/Did you have the Ritter Superpak? I have one. My basses only just about fit (Fender US Jazz deluxes, so heaven help anyone trying to use one to transport long scale instruments with two octave necks) and there's a huge tear in the stitching from the strain of having two basses in it on several occasions.

I *think* you could fit the little mark but it would be tight - the pocket is quite long and wide but not that deep (if that makes sense).
My mates Mark is in a purpose built flightcase and that wouldn't fit but I think without the case it should slot in nicely - no promises but I don't see a problem,

Cheers

Do you think there's a bit of space for a bit of bubble wrap around the MarkBass too?

Thanks for trying it out for us btw... :)

very interesting, that seems a great price for what looks like a very sturdy bit of kit!

i have a six month old warwick rock bag, which i've used a couple of dozen times and already one of the strap adjusters has broken making it unusable as a rucksack, also the nylon has ripped around the front handle, the stitching has come away and the fake leather on another handle has ripped.... in short, a pile of sh*t! :)

[quote name='OldGit' post='94862' date='Nov 26 2007, 11:39 PM']Anyone got the Fender double bag? £43.76 from Dolphin.
Opinions?

Re: Fender, I have one, it's badly designed and is not all that well padded. The straps are badly designed, does not feel like it has been eating enough for two;.... it feels like a cheapo gig bag that has two instrument compartments, and got badged by a big company pushing more accessories than they really care to have a think about.

Re: Ibanez, paid for one via Dolphin's which has an online deal now. Actually tried to buy from Thomann but they didn't have stock. Got in touch with ibanez agent here, they told me to order off my local shop. Local shop was about 15 quid more than Dolphin's.
Apparently I'll get mine end of the month, which is a few days away. I may plan to get the guitar version too. My main gigging bass is a headless and it fits into a guitar sized case. All I need now is a spare headless bass... haha
