Awesome, thanks fellas. I'll pass on the comments to Andy McGibbon, my Luthier. The couriers are picking it up on Monday with many pics to follow. Fortunately the neck was left well alone except for the same varnish gunk smeared over it which could fortunately be removed. The frets also still have a few years in them.

As to why the butcher committed these crimes, we can only speculate. Perhaps he wanted to Jazz it up, or make it a bit lighter, the thing weighs a ton! Or maybe it was one of those instances where a lunatic had to decide between shooting up the post office or taking an angle grinder to a bass. Perhaps we shall never know.
