neilb
As you probably know I sold my SX Jazz to OldGit, who got it for a mate. Just received my new SX Precision in 3TSB. Not joking, the finish is beautiful, neck pocket perfect and the neck straight as a dye. Wood grain is really nice. Ready to mod it a bit now!! Click on the header of the pics for a clearer image, the reduced ones are a bit fuzzy, its not my camera technique!! £110 (bass actually cost me $110- about £55 for Gods sake!!) and here from US in 4 days. PLEASE, I implore you, if your after a knockabout budgeter, look no further. ** I do not work for Rondo, honest!!** Edited January 8, 2008 by neilb

paul h
Looks lovely. I am very tempted to get the maple fretboard version. How much was shipping? And with your modding experience, are the scratch plates standard Fender size? Ta. Paul.

paul h
Damn you NeilB for giving me the GAS! I have just bought this one... http://www.rondomusic.com/spb573ts.html I think a tort plate will find it's way on there at some point. Actually, I made £90 playing poker today so that will cover most of it. And I have overpaid my credit card too...so there is another £35 I have to spend. It's like getting a free bass! Now I just have to sit at the front door and wait! Paul. p.s. About 5 minutes form reading this thread to buying the bass. Quickest GAS turnaround ever? This is my 2nd purchase from Rondo and the service has been great. Products great and price....well....great!! Nice choice Paul H!!! To be honest, Im getting to the stage where I care less and less about whats written on the headstock. I think my Aerodyne is safe for now though......just!! paul h
I am hoping to leave everything stock (apart from the plate) I remember listening to samples of an SX jazz on TB, A/B'd with a Fender...and there wasn't enough difference to worry about! Neil, where did you get the plate from and did you get a US, Mex or Jap one? P.

mr pablo
Nice lookin bass Neil I kinda like the look of this one http://www.rondomusic.com/spj62vwh.html Add a couple o wizard pups, hipshot type A bridge and maybe one of the bound and blocked inlay necks they sell and i think it'd be a looker
paul h
Thats the white plate it came with, I havent changed it
Did you not change it on your jazz? I was kind of hoping whatever format fitted the jazz would be good for the P too. I was thinking of getting a p/j configuration but my Aerodyne and BB614 are both p/j so there didn't seem much point. Ta
Its quite a chunky neck, similar to a MIJ P I had in the early 90s. Difficult to say as even Fender P profiles changed depending on year. Hamster - why not take a gamble and get one and find out. Ebay will always help if you dont like it. Hope that helps Neil Edited January 8, 2008 by neilb

Sibob
What is the hardware like? Decent enough tuners and bridge? stays in tune etc? I'm maybe looking for a jazz to try some Dimarzio's in, and their white/yellow 70's esque one looks nice. Alder body. I seem to remember the bass you brought Neil was a lot more yellow then what it looks in their pics. Was the one you brought listed as 'Vintage Yellow'? The J i bought was advertised as Vintage White. I am going to replece the bridge and tuners this week when the stuff arrives. Tuners are functional but a bit cheap feeling, they turn a bit clunkily. Speaking to my man Shuker about the Gotoh Bridges he recommends the Fenderalike one they do rather than the 201 as the cast top of the 201 doesn't always fit the brige base well and looses transmission through. The fenderalike is a lot heaveir than the standard fender bent tin. I think it's called the Gotoh Standard Bridge. I like what's written on the headstock and I'm a lable snob .. I'd not wear a Squier in pulic, even a JV ...

If you didn't I apologise, but gear name is not the be all and end all these days, I prefer my Squier VMJ over my MIJ Fender Aerodyne.
