1. I'm in the market for a new digital desk for my band, and I think were getting the QU-16 also. I also like the look of the X32 compact but I think the work flow on the QU-16 looks better for my needs.
2. Not going to be able to contribute this months chaps. Had loads on my plate
3. Cheers for that. Think I'm possibly getting too much boom in one ear. Will give them a call this afternoon.
4.
Not sure about the vacuum thing, but singing with them in, I would expect you to hear more in your head. TBH I'm not sure they would be ideal if you're singing for that reason, as well as the fact that your jaw moving so much might compromise the seal.
I think the earplugs are suppose to eliminate the occlusion effect and are meant to be suitable for singers. Do you have molded plugs yourself bud?
5. Just received my ACS moulded Pro 20's and tried them out at rehearsal last night and I'm not sure they fit right. The left ear in particular feels a bit weird. It feel like there is a vacuum in the ear and when I sing I can hear it more in my head than through my ears. Hope that makes sense? Because I've never used them before I'm not really sure how they are meant to feel in rehearsal/gig situation. Can anyone shed some light onto this please? Cheers Keith
6. I'm not saying which letter my mix is, but I think I'm missing some vocal parts too. We're some stems added later on or all together at the same time?
7. Thanks again Si. I have some decent stems for next month. Just let me know if they are needed.
8. No need to apologise fella, I personally just find it challenging. I'm happier dealing with stuff that's recorded dry, then adding reverb later. But these challenges are all what this thread is about. Hopefully I'll get better at it.
9. It also sounds like the drums were recorded in a very large room, so the overheads sound more like room mics than overheads. Think this is why i'm finding it hard to add any beef to the drums. It could also be that I'm crap at mixing and I'm getting my excuses in : )
10. I'm really struggling with the drums again. Can't seem to make them big and meaty without using samples, and I don't want to go down that route with this track. Any suggestions any would be greatly appreciated. Really like the track and the guitars sound great btw.
11. Struggling to get mine done, but will try and have something ready for the weekend.
12. This tune is pretty heavy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf9O1G0Acvs
13. Evening all, When we finished recording our album at the start of the year, we decided that we wanted to get it mastered at Abbey Road. The only way we could afford this was to start a kickstarter project with a whole number of pledges available. One of the pledges was a cover of your choice, recorded properly and with a video for £20. Here are the two we have done so far, the first one being a proposal video for someone. Both good fun and not very serious at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UF1NP5puMQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vBtly0flKD8 Only another 18 to go!!
14. nothing to see here....
15. please remove.
16. Thanks for the feedback Skol - I've think you've summed up pretty much what I think about all of the mixes too. Getting the kick right is something I seem to be struggling with at the moment. Maybe you could give me some tips? With regards to the cymbals, I probably turned the overheads down too much as I hate the claspeness from the hi-hats. The guy in the band who wrote this track also prefers Moonbass track. Well done to him!!!
17. Right, here's my final attempt. https://soundcloud.com/butlerk02/mr-basschat Would love to get some feedback and peoples opinions please.
18.
Shall we say entries in by Mon 25th polling to start that day? I'm way off pace with this too this month...
Sounds good.
19. I reckon Sunday the 24th should do as the deadline date. It will give us 4/5 days to review things the entries. We could do with Si adding the voting thing again, that's if there are enough entries.
20. Right then, not sure if this is my final mix yet but here's what i've done so far..... https://soundcloud.com/butlerk02/mr-basschat-mix
21. Too be honest, the drums aren't that well recorded with this track, and I don't think we used the room mic at all in the final mix process. I know we had to gate everything and work with what we had on the OH's. I think we used kick and snare samples also.
22.
I just did that for you
Thanks man!!
