Superb mate - brilliantly chaotic, suits the scene perfectly!

The title is actually cryptically christmasy, a shiny internet cookie for anyone who figures it out.
A lovely slice of ambience mate, Eno-esque, with some great sounds coming and going. Suits the drunken passed out stupour perfectly. I could swear I can hear the guy snoring at the beginning of the piece, about 25 seconds in
Really enjoyed this composition - skillfully put together and nicely produced. The piano really fills out the track and your vocal is great. I dig the ending too, which adds to the melancholy. In all, very good work!
Thanks very much Skol, you're very kind mate. Nice to have some endorsement from last month's winner It's been a pleasure to take part, dunno why I haven't done sooner really. Hope I can keep it up in future months' competitions.
Here's my entry, if easily offended dont listen. Not had any time to do anything so knocked this out for a laugh this afternoon, think it fits the picture well, hope you get the humour! Bah Humbug! Here it is, I Quit! http://soundcloud.co...hat-competition
Loved it Stephen A great idea to do it from the viewpoint of a fed up Santa. Me and the missus had right old chuckle, but you know, there's also pathos in there too. The fact that you knocked it together in an afternoon is impressive, I spent an age on mine, chopping and changing and getting fed up lol Well done

The main thing with PC's is having a decent sound card to handle latency. I've got an external one, which is basically my audio interface. i can plug, guitar, bass and microphones in through it (basically anything with a jack or XLR plug) This is what I've got, a few years old now though, but does the job for me. Not very expensive either: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&sa=X&tbo=d&biw=1024&bih=653&tbm=isch&tbnid=sRKItVI9TlIkyM:&imgrefurl=http://www.avforums.com/forums/computer-components/875658-getting-5-1-sound-using-edirol-ua-25-a.html&docid=jn2jd9vzT8O4OM&imgurl=http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/computer-components/99289d1228133742-getting-5-1-sound-using-edirol-ua-25-4039.jpg&w=900&h=597&ei=IEnUUIu9D8aB0QHgjIBY&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=4&vpy=136&dur=3065&hovh=183&hovw=276&tx=135&ty=201&sig=114548439787945012160&page=1&tbnh=147&tbnw=204&start=0&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:88

My home "studio" is quite paltry to be honest (computer, two programs, audio interface, the odd mic or two, some imagination) - can't always get that last one working though!

Right then, here's my effort, make of it what you will. See the description on the Soundcloud page for the idea etc. A cheery little ditty to get us all in the Christmas spirit I am available for children's parties https://soundcloud.com/bobbie-k/so-peaceful
Tis a funny thing......certain bass's are better active or passive...and other way! Take the Yamaha BB-614 (active 3 EQ) and the BB-414 (passive), both are great bass's, I know I owned both, but the passive BB-414 was for me simply a better bass for being passive, pups were hotter, sound warmer, great range of tones, all seems to gel better... ........ .............even stranger was that I've heard they both have the same pups (?)....maybe the EQ was the cause on the BB-614, mine was OK when everything wound up & a to die for slap tone, otherwise a bit thin sounding and very quiet. ........but, then again a Yamaha RBX-374 is active and far better than the passive version RBX-2-3 range I tried.....and yet my Yamaha RBX4-A2 sounds so lively you could be forgiven it's an active ...not sure what all this proves though maybe it's a Yamaha thing, or it maybe because I've owned a few Yamaha's! I'm going to back to bed...
My BB1100s can be passive and active, but I never use it in active mode; it just sounds infinitely better passive. I got the 1100s in a trade for my BB1500a, which was a fantastic sounding active Yamaha. The sound was very hi fi and it sounded like a much more expensive bass! I swapped because, although I loved the sound of the 1500a, the hi fi sound wasn't right for the stuff I was doing at the time. I still miss it though I guess this all boils down to the fact that active and passive both have their merits, it just depends on what sort of music you're playing and what's right for the music you're playing...

Song structure created and lyrics down, but I can't even play the guitar riff I came up with lol, so have had to adapt it for a piano sound in Reason. It's actually worked out a lot better though and gives it more of seasonal theme and adds to the pathos. Still working on it but should be done in time. :-)

I've started too lol - brain is in tatters already with it Tomorrow is another day

I might have a go this month, ideas on the back burner as we speak :-) Being torn between the drunken debauched buffoonery angle and a more downbeat poignant approach. Strangely drawn to the latter...

as long as it still sings beautifully though eh (and I bet it does!)

the first cut is the deepest my friend...

off topic slightly, but does anyone else think that the painted face in the second picture looks like Benny from Crossroads (actor Paul Henry) http://www.google.co...29,r:3,s:0,i:91

I really miss my 1500a - Mine was the wine red version; not sure I should've sold it, but hey ho!
