So I have this morning off so I had to do somE surgery on the bass I built in lockdown 1.0 (there’s a build thread somewhere) ... After I had put shielding tape in the pickup cavities I did a rookie error and the wires came off the pickups as I think I yanked it a bit too hard! So I’ve just done some surgery (on a dipped Dimazio pickup it’s a nightmare!!!!) and it’s singing again!!

I’m just doing the body ramp and headstock. I’m not messing around with neck finishes, the neck on this Ibanez iS actually really sweet so I’m leaving it as is! I’ve also recessed the knobs PRS style!

Apologies for the delay, the weather has meant I’ve had to stop for a bit till the snow goes and it gets a bit warmer... my garage is full of what seems redundant sound equipment!

A bit of progress today before I just had a snow flurry which has hindered me because I want to prime the body for chroming so here it is so far... it’s a 4 piece body... took a LOT of heat gun and scraping then sanding! Thank god for random orbital sanders!!!

Probably on the Bon fire. It’s beyond repair missing some bits of wood bro. The truss rod is working but slightly bent (where the neck has been broken). The fingerboard is also incomplete! why bro?

So I stole half an hour before work today and got everything off the bass and had a look at the tuners on the neck and they fit yay! The only thing I’m conscious of is that they are reversed. Shouldn’t make too much of a different right? I’ve got a heat gun from my tech and am going to strip it (ooh err misses) over the weekend but I’m resisting telling my misses the heat gun is a hairdryer... Anyway, I stripped the electrics etc on the kitchen side so don’t tell Mrs BigJim! The ramp seems to be ash or something similar in grain and painted so I will chrome that... I was contemplating leaving it black if it was ebony!!! the neck fits beautifully and the tuners fit in... That’s it for today but we’ll see over the weekend what prevails!

A replacement tuner plus shipping and now import etc is more than the new neck!!

So today I scored this beauty off Facebook and have bought this neck for it on eBay (I checked and the only difference is the replacement neck is 0.5mm thicker than the GWB neck which is easily rectified!) so the plan is to strip the body and the headstock, plug one of the holes in the bass side of the headstock and drill an extra one on the treble side... Then spray it chrome on the body and headstock and buff it shiny shiny! As I do it I’ll put up pictures but will be a long project!

Thanks Dunc, I’m sorry it has to go but needs must! ideally I’d like a nice bandsaw or trade for a 5 string or a PJB BG-400! Or what have you got!?

Here we have a bass that I picked up only 2 weeks ago! Unfortunately the misses losing her job and a house move imminant means this has to go as it was the last one in! Trust me, I don't want to but it has to go! Sorry Duncan! It's a KILLER bass!!!! Mint condition 32" scale Upgraded DeArmond USA pickups Output jack moved to the side so you can put it on a stand professionally. groundwound/halfwound strings Comes with a hard case which is functionable as well. I'd rather not ship it as it's a hollow body and we're using all the boxes and packaging for the move! Collection or meeting only!

Thanks Burns-Bass for raising this, a few people have asked me already in DMs This is a very good point. I have full insurance for this as a courier and all instruments/equipment will be insured under my insurance I have taken out for this. A few people have asked me about things like timings. The service is direct from the place of pickup (directly from the person selling the instrument with full videos and pictures of the instrument sent prior to taking it) to the, let’s say customer with full pictures of safe arrival to the person selling with no overnight unless stated. Full paperwork is printed for every delivery. I hope this puts your mind at ease my friend. Jimbo

This one hurts!! Thanks to no gigs and Covid, I’ve been doing other jobs to make ends meet and this month I’m short, what with my other basses on here not selling, I need the dosh! So here’s my amazing Status Smart Bass 5 string up for sale!! I think it’s the bass that BGM reviewed which the article is in the pictures below I bought this off our very own Steff in December as my touring bass... all tours cancelled for next year also so it needs to go unfortunately! The Playability on this Bass is stupid and the neck, feel and sound is amazing! The neck is solid as a rock and never moves due to the graphite neck! 4.4kg unfortunatey it has to go as I’ve got rent to pay!! It didn’t come with a case but I’m sure I can throw in some sort of gig bag with it! Only thing is the rear of the A string is missing the cover over the tuning mechanism, but it doesn’t affect it whatsoever!!! It also comes with Schaller style locks. Cash or BACS only, I don’t do PayPal I’m afraid and shipping to be paid by the buyer. I can’t start to state how amazing this bass is!!!
